Children's Wisconsin is seeking a Business Continuity Program Manager to lead the development and integration of a system-wide resilience strategy that ensures critical clinical and business operations can be sustained or rapidly restored in the face of any disruption.
Location: Hybrid (onsite and remote); must reside within driving distance of Children's Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI.
What you will do:
Leads the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive, system-wide business continuity program aligned with emergency management and an all-hazards framework. Ensures the health system can maintain or rapidly restore critical clinical and business operations during and after disruptions, including natural disasters, cyber incidents, supply chain failures, and public health emergencies. Partners closely with clinical, operational, administrative leaders to integrate continuity strategies into daily operation and regulatory preparedness requirements.
Essential Functions
  • Develops, coordinates and maintains a system-wide Business Continuity Program aligned with Emergency Management and enterprise risk management. Establishes governance structures, policies, and standards for business continuity across hospitals, clinics, and corporate functions.
  • Leads program maturity efforts using recognized frameworks (e.g., all-hazards approach, regulatory healthcare expectations).
  • Facilitates Business Impact Analyses with departments to identify critical functions, dependencies, recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs).
  • Conducts continuity risk assessments aligned with the system's Hazard Vulnerability Analysis (HVA). Prioritizes recovery strategies based on patient safety, regulatory requirements, and operational impact.
  • Oversees development, review, and updates of department-level business continuity plans. Ensures alignment between continuity plans, emergency operations plans, and IT disaster recovery plans. Facilitates annual reviews of business continuity process, system, and program documentation.
  • Designs and delivers training programs for leaders and staff on business continuity roles and expectations. Develops and facilitate exercises (tabletops, functional exercises) to validate continuity plans.
  • Serves in a leadership or advisory role within the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) during activations. Provides subject matter expertise on operational continuity, service line prioritization, and recovery strategies. Supports post-incident recovery and after-action processes.

What you will need:
  • Bachelor's Degree healthcare, emergency management, business or related field required
  • 2+ years Project management and group facilitation experience, specifically managing process improvement, information technology or healthcare projects preferred
  • 2+ years Business analysis experience, specifically in process-oriented interview domains preferred
  • 2+ years Practical working knowledge of consulting and industry methodologies that support effective Business Continuity Management program development preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to negotiate collaborative efforts with other departments and to implement patient safety standards and guidelines.
  • Ability to problem solve, make independent decisions, formulate reports, perform statistical analysis and interpret data.
  • A high level of analytical ability to resolve complex patient care problems, administrative problems and research issues.
  • High level of proficiency in information systems and computer operations (including with Microsoft SharePoint, Excel, Word, and Visio, Adobe Acrobat,) in a hospital environment.
  • Knowledge and experience working directly with electronic health records.
