PREFERRED LOCATION: Jersey City (NJ)
POSITION SUMMARY
TheBusiness Analyst("BA") plays a key role in analyzing business processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and translating business needs into actionable requirements. The BA works closely with stakeholders across underwriting, claims, IT and other departments to ensure that solutions align with business goals and deliver measurable value. This role requires a strong understanding of the insurance industry, excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDING
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, document and analyze business requirements for new projects, processes or system enhancements. Conduct workshops and interviews with business and IT to understand business needs and pain points.
  • Analyze current business processes and workflows to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement. Recommend solutions to enhance user experience.
  • Translate business requirements into clear and concise functional specifications, user stories and process flows. Work with IT to ensure solutions are designed and implemented according to requirements.
  • Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout project execution. Facilitate meetings and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, patterns and insights that support business decision-making. Develop reports, dashboards and visualizations to present findings to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with QA to develop test cases and ensure that solutions meet business requirements. Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) and validate that deliverables meet business standards.
  • Support the implementation of new processes and systems by assisting with training, documentation and change management activities. Monitor post-implementation performance and address any issues or gaps.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Strong understanding of business analysis frameworks, techniques and best practices, including requirements gathering, process modeling, and gap analysis.
  • 2+ years of experience in the property and casualty insurance industry with a solid understanding of insurance products, processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to work in Agile and Scrum environments with experience delivering projects utilizing those frameworks.
  • Skilled at gathering, analyzing and documenting business requirements, user stories and functional specifications.
  • Expertise in analyzing current business processes, identifying inefficiencies and recommending solutions to optimize workflows and drive operational efficiency.
  • Proficiency in analyzing data to identify trends, patterns and insights and presenting findings through reports, dashboards and visualizations to business and IT stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to work with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
  • Experience with tools like Microsoft DevOps, Jira or similar for backlog management, requirement tracking and collaboration.
  • Ability to control scope, manage scope creep and ensure that solutions align with business objectives and priorities.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills with the ability to lead meetings to gather requirements and communicate findings.
  • Experience collaborating with QA to develop test cases, conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensure solutions meet business requirements.
  • Familiarity with software development processes and the ability to bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio) for creating process flows, presentations and documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and propose innovative solutions to complex challenges.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE
  • Required: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in computer science, management or other relevant degree.
  • Required: 5+ years of experience as an IT product manager within a technology or insurance organization.
  • Certifications:Relevant certifications such as Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA), or Agile certifications (e.g., CSPO, CSM) are a plus.

  • Physical demands are considered to be that of a climate-controlled office environment, with minimal physical exertion.
