About Our Family

We're a busy, high-achieving family of four based in Baton Rouge, with two active kids and a sweet 25-lb mini goldendoodle. Our household is well-organized, thoughtfully labeled, and runs on systems that we've built intentionally, but our schedules have grown, and we need a capable, warm partner to help keep everything moving smoothly.

Both parents are in demanding professional roles that require travel and significant mental bandwidth during the workday. As we transition to both parents working full-time in high-responsibility positions, we're not looking for someone to take over the home, but for someone who can step in as a true extension of our family: organized, proactive, and dependable. We want our afternoons and evenings to feel calmer, our kitchen to stay stocked and ahead of the week, and our kids to feel supported and on track.

Our home has a welcoming, structured energy. We take pride in how organized it is, and we're looking for someone who will maintain that standard and even find ways to improve it. We value professionalism and a clear working relationship, but also warmth with our children. Inclusivity is a core value in our household, and it is non-negotiable in anyone we welcome in.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

You are organized, self-directed, and take ownership of the details that make a household run smoothly. You come to work with a plan, you notice what needs to be done without being told, and you follow through completely. You're confident in the kitchen, comfortable around children and animals, and you genuinely enjoy contributing to a family's day-to-day quality of life. You understand the difference between professional warmth and overstepping, and you thrive in an employer-employee dynamic built on mutual respect and clear expectations.

You are comfortable with kids who have their own routines and personalities, and you know how to engage with them in a way that is encouraging and inclusive, not overbearing. You maintain excellent judgment about household priorities, manage your time independently during the hours before children arrive home, and transition smoothly into afternoon family support mode. You are fiscally responsible with household purchases, communicative about what you observe in the home, and someone the whole family can count on.

Key Responsibilities

Family Support

  • Drop-off to extracurricular activities on scheduled days; occasional school pickup when the bus does not run
  • Support kids' after-school routine: snack availability, homework accountability, and keeping them on track with age-appropriate chores
  • Backpack and theme day prep support: thinking ahead so the kids are prepared, while encouraging them to own the tasks themselves
  • Occasional date night coverage as needed, above regular scheduled hours
  • Keep kids accountable for dog feeding and walking responsibilities

Household Organization & Maintenance

  • Maintain and support existing household organization systems; propose efficiency improvements as needed
  • Monday reset and preparation of the home before the weekly Tuesday cleaning service
  • Light daily tidying: surface wipe-downs, dishes, and vacuuming of high-traffic areas (duties shared with kids as appropriate)
  • Seasonal clothing swaps and coordination of donation drop-offs as children grow
  • Quarterly deep cleaning of areas not covered by regular cleaners (refrigerator, oven, baseboards)
  • Light plant care for a small number of indoor plants
  • Occasional assistance with event prep, errand running, and party setup
  • Be available to let in occasional home vendors as needed
  • Mudroom and entryway refresh and maintenance

Inventory & Errands

  • Monitor and restock pantry, refrigerator, and household supplies; manage or supplement weekly delivery orders
  • Maintain a running household supply list and manage recurring household orders
  • Gift shopping for kids' birthday parties; manage returns and package handling
  • Monitor and maintain pet supply inventory for the family dog
  • Mail and package handling; breakdown of delivery boxes as needed

Meal Support

  • Weekly meal planning for Monday through Thursday dinners, with a focus on organization, inventory monitoring, and advance prep
  • Prepare grab-and-go lunches for a parent and accessible snacks for the children
  • Meal support may include prepping ingredients (chopping, marinating, portioning) and/or preparing full meals on busy activity days
  • Grocery shopping and kitchen restocking as needed, kitchen cleanup after preparation
  • All meal preparation must account for a direct egg allergy in one family member; baked goods containing eggs are fine

Laundry & Linens

  • Wash, fold, and organize the family's laundry on a regular basis
  • Light ironing and steaming of approximately 5 to 10 pieces per week
  • Towels included in regular laundry rotation; bed linens handled by the cleaning service
  • Maintain a tidy and well-stocked laundry area

Family Support (Scheduling & Admin)

  • Shared access to and editing rights for the family Google Calendar; ability to add and manage scheduled items
  • Budget-conscious purchasing for all household errands and supply management
