Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Dishwasher is responsible for cleaning all dishes, silverware, glassware, utensils, and pots/pans, as well as providing support to other areas of the BOH. This position requires a strong sense of urgency, adaptability, and the ability to work efficiently. The Dishwasher represents Miller’s Ale House by exhibiting professionalism, attention to detail, and a desire to foster a positive work environment.

 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Arrive on time, in full uniform, and ready to work.
  • Work directly with Team Members to ensure all needs are met in a timely manner.
  • Maintain proper food handling procedures and ensure sanitation of work areas, complying with food handling requirements.
  • Work closely with Team Members to ensure safety and sanitation protocols are followed according to company standards
  • Collect bus tubs and dirty dishes from both FOH and BOH areas.
  • Ensure a steady supply of clean dishes, glassware, and utensils for cooks, servers, and bartenders.
  • Re-stock areas for easy access by other staff members.
  • Provide support to cooks as needed, including occasional station assignments.
  • Communicate with fellow Team Members and Management to stay informed and ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, including sweeping and mopping when necessary.
  • Assist with overall kitchen cleanliness, including taking out trash.
  • Complete running and end-of-shift side work, ensuring work areas are stocked and ready for the next Dishwasher.
  • Notify Management immediately of any potential problems or issues.

  • Support other Back of House functions as needed, ensuring that all areas of the restaurant run smoothly is a shared responsibility among the Team.
  • Communicate positively with other Team Members and Management to ensure smooth operations.
  • Provide exceptional service and maintain a positive attitude throughout the entire shift.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to multitask and perform well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the age of hire unless otherwise required by state law.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Dishwashers are expected to be able to perform the job functions with reasonable accommodation.  Physical demands include:  

  • Remain standing for extended periods of time
  • Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, and lifting, up to 40 lbs., for short distances
  • Ability to work with hot water for most of the shift, and in work areas that have an elevated air temperature.
  • Ability to work with varying noise levels
  • Frequent communication with Managers and Team Members. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
