Job Description

Job Overview:

The Driver, Materials/Passengers/Goods will safely operate company vehicles to deliver materials, passengers, and goods. This position also involves cleaning and maintaining vehicles. The general responsibilities of the position are listed below, but Sodexo may assign additional responsibilities based on business needs and client requirements. These responsibilities may vary across different accounts.

  • Homeports: Deer Lake, Gander, Goose Bay, Halifax, Montreal, Moncton, Sept-Iles, St-John’s, Schefferville, Quebec City
  • Language Requirements: English (Bilingualism in English and French is an asset)
  • Position Type: Hourly - $24.00 per hour
  • Rotation Schedule: 14 days on / 14 days off
  • Job Type: Permanent
  • Fly In-Fly Out: Yes

General Responsibilities:

  • Drive company vehicles to transport personnel, visitors, customers, and goods/materials.
  • Deliver, load, and unload products, food, and equipment as requested.
  • Store or install delivered items as necessary.
  • Maintain a driver’s log.
  • Collect receipts and follow all Sodexo and client policies, as well as regulatory agency requirements.
  • Make minor repairs to vehicles to keep them in good working order.
  • Oversee the appearance, operation, maintenance, and servicing of vehicles.
  • Attend designated training programs (classroom and virtual).
  • Apply all applicable provincial and local safety requirements to all assigned work.
  • Comply with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments.
  • Report all accidents and injuries promptly.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

  • Experience/Knowledge:
    • 0 to 2 years of transportation-related work experience.
  • Skills/Aptitude:
    • Present oneself in a highly professional manner, understanding that honesty and ethics are essential.
    • Ability to maintain a positive attitude.
    • Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with coworkers and other departments.
    • Maintain professional relationships with all coworkers, vendor representatives, supervisors, managers, customers, and client representatives.
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Basic material handling skills.
    • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
  • License/Certifications:
    • Valid provincial bus driver’s license required.
  • General Qualifications:
    • Willingness to learn and grow.
    • Maturity of judgment and behavior.
    • Maintain high standards for work areas and appearance.
    • Comply with any dress code requirements.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
    • Comply with all Sodexo time and attendance policies and/or client operating hours.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to see close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjust focus, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Significant walking or other means of mobility.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods (up to 8 hours).
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push, pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds (may use mechanical aids for lifting more than 50 pounds).

Working Conditions:

  • Will work in both indoor and outdoor environments, in varying weather conditions.
  • Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, weekends, and extended hours as business dictates.
  • Primarily work in a controlled, temperate environment; however, may be exposed to heat/cold during support of outside activities.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
