Location: Washington, DC (Union Station)
Compensation: $19-21 hourly
Schedule: 9am-7pm (Up to 50 hours per week; Days worked vary based on needs of operation)

Bus Company Holdings US, LLC (dba Coach USA), a motorcoach transportation company, is looking for a full-time Dispatcher and Bus Backer for Union Station in Washington, DC. The incumbent will report to the General Manager. The Dispatcher/Bus Backer is responsible for ensuring on-time departures and arrivals, and maintaining effective communication between drivers, passengers, and station personnel. Also, assisting drivers with safely maneuvering motor coaches in tight spaces, particularly within station loading areas. This role is critical to delivering safe, efficient, and customer-focused transportation services. As well as, ensuring safe positioning of buses, supporting traffic flow, and enhancing overall safety at the terminal.

Description:
  • Guide drivers when backing buses into bays or parking areas using hand signals and/or radio communication
  • Ensure safe movement of buses in congested station areas
  • Monitor pedestrian and vehicle traffic to prevent accidents
  • Assist with staging buses for departures and arrivals
  • Perform basic visual safety checks (lights, doors, clearance)
  • Communicate with drivers regarding lane assignments and timing
  • Help maintain orderly flow of Coach USA/Dillon's buses at Union Station
  • Assist with passenger questions
  • Loading/unloading luggage when required
  • Checking tickets when needed and directing them to the correct bus

Minimum Requirements:
  • Available on weekends, holidays, days, and nights and work flexible long shifts depending on the operation's needs
  • Exemplary customer service skills
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Experience in transportation, ground operations, or similar role preferred
  • Strong situational awareness and attention to detail
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to give clear directions
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks
  • Must be able to lift and load/unload luggage when needed
