Job description

Senior Software Engineer

We’re on a mission to transform the journey of food from producers to consumers. We currently deliver thousands of sustainable products from Northeast farmers and makers directly to homes in New York. We’re a profitable business (~40M ARR) with amazing growth (~100% YoY) and recent funding. In short, we’ve proven the model works. Now we're building the team to scale it.

What You’ll Work On

Software touches nearly every part of our business - from how New Yorkers discover fresh, local produce to how our warehouse runs day to day. In this role you will work across a wide range of problems, including:

  • Modernizing our platform: you’ll design and build the next generation of our customer-facing apps and internal ERP.
  • Scaling operations with AI: you’ll build purpose-built agents that support our teams as we grow.
  • Warehouse and fulfillment: you’ll ship the software that powers our floor operations.
Candidate Profile

We value how you think and solve problems over what is listed on your résumé. We are looking for engineers who are:

  • Curious & Adaptive: You’re excited to learn new systems, tackle unexplored technical challenges, and thrive in ambiguity. Farm to People was not built as a traditional tech company - but the investment is there now, and the engineers who join early will have an outsized hand in shaping what it becomes.
  • Mission-driven: You care that your work reaches real people and farmers. You’re drawn to an industry where software directly affects what people eat, how food moves, and whether small farms can compete.
  • Owner-Minded: You take responsibility for features from conception through to maintenance. You don’t just ship, you land.
  • Pragmatically Technical: You’re able to navigate legacy code and ship improvements to a 5+ year-old system without disrupting revenue-generating operations.
  • Excited about AI: We’re bullish on using AI for our day to day but also on how it’ll change key parts of our business.
Our Stack
  • Languages: Typescript, Python & Go.
Logistics & Requirements
  • Location: Brooklyn, NY (in person but flexible).
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience shipping production code (5+ years of experience shipping production code).
  • Authorization: US work authorization required. We are not able to sponsor visas at this time.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary: $150K - $200K
  • Yearly Bonus: 15% target
  • Meaningful Equity
  • Health Benefits
  • 3 Weeks PTO (flexible)
The Opportunity

This role provides the unique chance to rewrite the future of our tech stack, impact your local community and also modernize an industry that has remained largely unchanged for a century.

Pay: $150,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off

Work Location: In person
