Job description

The IT Specialist supports Centerline employees by providing help with software, hardware, and technology services. This role focuses on learning company systems, training users, and optimizing technology use. The IT Specialist works with internal and external teams to meet the organization’s technological needs. This role specializes in providing excellence in customer service no matter the circumstances.


  • Train employees on software and applications (Microsoft Office, Adobe, Sophos, Rose Point Navigation Systems, etc.).
  • Manage the helpdesk: log and resolve support issues, coordinate with third parties as needed.
  • Identify recurring support issues, gaps in documentation, and opportunities to improve end-user experience; surface recommendations to the team.
  • Maintain and Inventory company assets: computers, laptops, tablets, printers, scanners, copiers.
  • Follow checklists for onboarding, offboarding, installation, and configuration.
  • Keep asset lists updated in helpdesk software.
  • Perform user lifecycle tasks in Active Directory, Entra, and M365 (account creation, password resets, group and license management).
  • Maintain VOIP phone system: set up extensions, manage voicemail.
  • Work with technology vendors for analysis and problem resolution.
  • Participate in emergency on-call schedule.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Solid understanding of basic office networking, software installation, and computer setup.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware (computers, phones, printers, office equipment).
  • Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to document and write clearly for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
  • Exercise initiative, judgment, and decision-making within assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and data security.
  • Follow verbal and written directions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); able to support and train end-users.
  • Adherence to safety, regulatory, and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Must pass background checks required for port and vessel access.

  • Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk.
  • Occasional travel to vessel location and shipyards.
  • May be required to travel both domestically and internationally for up to two weeks at one time.
