Job description

Purvis Industries is a leading distributor of bearing, mechanical power transmission, electrical, fluid power, industrial products, and conveyor systems. We are actively seeking a sales-focused product and application expert to lead our bulk material handling efforts. Purvis is more than just a distributor โ€“ we have in-house engineering, service, and contractor resources that give our team the capabilities to take care of the customer with a single call. We have a great team and provide our team members with challenging and fun opportunities to grow both professionally and personally. Our customer base includes such diverse industries as oil & gas, aggregate, cement, food & beverage, mining, and many more.

The bulk material handling sales engineer will work with our field sales personnel to grow our sales in unit handling conveyors and systems for new and existing customers. They will accomplish this through direct sales calls throughout the assigned Purvis geographical area and via electronic means (Teams, phone, video chat). They will assist with new applications (sizing, specifying, and designing) and existing applications (troubleshooting, repair, or replace). Additionally, they will support our internal engineering design teams in assisting in the design and application of bulk material handling.

The day-to-day work of the Application Sales Engineer involves meeting with customers and/or team members, providing technical advice and assistance on product selection and sizing, creating proposals or assisting in proposals with suppliers and team members, providing training to customers and team members, and assisting with product-specific marketing such as eCommerce.

As an Application Sales Engineer, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

ยท Directly participate in sales efforts to close orders

ยท Coordinate bulk material handling bulk material handling with various Branches and Regional Managers

ยท Identify target accounts and prospects

ยท Work with the marketing team to produce marketing materials and events promoting unit and package handling.

ยท Provide marketing suggestions for social media posts and other digital content

ยท Utilize AutoCAD, Solidworks, and manufacturer-provided software such as HEROES or HyCAD

ยท Provide advanced-level technical application support via phone, video conference, or in person

ยท Stay current on new products and technologies and educate Customers and Purvis Team Members about these new developments

ยท Determine final disposition of warranty claims and work with suppliers to resolve difficult cases

ยท Produce and present technical training for Customers and Purvis Team Members about bulk material handling products.

ยท Ability to read and understand technical drawings

ยท Good driving record

Education & Experience

ยท Prefer a B.S. in Engineering or Mechatronics, or equivalent experience

ยท Five (5) years of bulk material handling work

Job Type: Full time, 8 hour days M-F

Travel: up to 50% domestic

Pay: Commensurate with experience, car provided
