Job description

Job Title

Monitors alarm panels for Fire and Intrusion on County properties, dispatches Security Department personnel, answers phone calls, monitors security cameras.

Responsibilities

1. Multi-tasking the monitoring of fire and intrusion alarm systems, security video cameras, and other computer and alarm equipment and maintaining radio communication with DCSD Security personnel and/or others regarding security emergencies, general calls for service, maintenance, etc. on a constant basis. 2. Answers phones and communicates with related staff, citizens, and employees. As events occur, dispatch appropriate personnel and others to respond to routine, emergency and facilities or maintenance problems. 3. Inform key DCSD Command staff and / or supervisory personnel of emergency or potential emergency situations. Maintain various logs of incidents, communications and phone calls as appropriate. 4. Completes informational reports via the DCSD Records Management and Incident Reporting system as required or appropriate. 5. Operates as dispatch for Facilities and Maintenance after hours and on weekends. 6. Maintains the department lost and found and evidence storage unit, stores confiscated items and contraband; maintains documents and related logs. 7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Training: Graduation from an accredited high school/GED Program. Four (4) years of public service or work-related experience or 60 (sixty) college hours from an accredited college or university, or a combination of the two.Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must be 21 years of age and meet the minimum mental and physical standards. Knowledge and proficiency in basic computer use, and the use of Microsoft Office software. Mandatory physical and psychological exam. Mandatory drug testing prior to employment, and will be subject to random, unannounced drug and/or alcohol testing during employment. Willingness and ability to work shift work, on any shift assigned. Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information and documents. Ability to work under stress in emergency situations. Ability to work with both peers and outside Fire, Law Enforcement and Public Service entities.Physical/Environmental Requirements: Binocular vision, correctable to 20/30. Able to discriminate between standard colors. Capable of hearing ordinary conversation at ten feet, with each ear. The use of hearing aid is permissible. May require prolonged sitting.
