As demand for highquality digital delivery continues to grow, we're expanding our BIM capability - creating an exciting opportunity for a Senior BIM Technician - Building Services to join our collaborative, forwardthinking team.

About You 

As a Building Services Senior BIM Technician, you are expected to have a track record in one or, preferably, multiple sectors that BakerHicks operates in. You will be experienced in generating high quality, accurate and detailed design packages.

You'll understand the latest industry standard software and information management techniques to work as part of an enthusiastic and committed team of Engineers and Technicians, delivering high quality output on projects.

Key Purpose

  • To lead the production of accurate coordinated Building Services BIM models, drawings and associated documentation for our projects, supporting Engineers and Principal Technicians in delivering projects to company standards.
  • Provide technical support and mentoring to our Early Careers population and the continuous improvement of departmental capabilities.
  • Support Building Service Technicians involvement in small to medium-size projects, including time, quality and delivery.
  • Provide appropriate levels of Building Services design support to a range of different projects.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the production of fully co-ordinated building services 3D models, schematics, general arrangement and detailed drawings in accordance with the relevant standards and procedures.
  • Ensure quality of delivery when producing or updating CAD drawings to internal and/or customer standards.
  • Support model setup and project environments, ensuring project file structures and naming conventions are maintained in line with company standards.
  • Contribute and share knowledge to other members of the building services team to deliver safe, efficient and buildable solutions.
  • Provide technical mentoring to developing members of the team.
  • Ensure thorough checking and accuracy of your own work and the work of developing members of the team under your supervision, assisting Principal Technicians and the BIM Manager with team development.
  • Assist with clash detection and resolution activities, promoting best practice modelling techniques.
  • Input into the continual development of the Building Services BIM standards.
  • Review specialist subcontractor's/supplier's production drawings for technical compliance with design intent.
  • Production of model outputs, such as schedules, room data sheets etc.
  • Preparation of COBie and asset information.
  • Assist and mentor engineers in the use of 2D and 3D design software. Sharing knowledge and lessons learned.
  • Provide team support, contributing to technical training initiatives and supporting onboarding of new staff.
  • Contribute to the building services 3D content libraries.

Accountabilities

  • Create a team environment which enables continual development and professional growth.
  • Ensure team compliance with company quality management and best practice, monitoring coordination and model quality.
  • Supporting and mentoring BIM Technicians and Trainee BIM Technicians to promote technical development and best practice.
  • Contributing to a collaborative team environment and supporting the successful delivery of project and business objectives

Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • Proficient in the principles of building services systems and components including coordination and spatial requirements.
  • High level of proficiency in using Revit MEP within a project environment as a minimum.
  • Ability to work under the supervision of a Principal Technician / lead engineer to produce 2D & 3D deliverables from concept through to fully co-ordinated detailed design.
  • Possess a working knowledge of BIM Level 2, current BIM legislation, and how to implement within projects.
  • Knowledge of current UK technical standards/publications and legislation requirements.
  • Demonstratable knowledge of the construction process and co-ordination experience.
  • Effectively manage and prioritise personal workload while assisting BIM Technicians and Trainees in organising and coordinating their workloads to achieve project deadlines and deliverables.
  • Good communication style and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to negotiate both internally and externally to the team.
  • HNC, HND, BTEC or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering or a similar relevant engineering or built environment discipline.
