Job description

Position Summary

The Senior Materials Manager provides leadership for all aspects of materials management, purchasing, production planning, inventory control, warehouse operations, and supply chain strategy within a highly customized sheet metal fabrication environment.

This position partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Sales, Finance, and Executive Leadership to improve customer service, inventory performance, manufacturing efficiency, and overall business profitability.


What You'll Do

  • Develop and execute supply chain strategies that support company growth
  • Lead Purchasing, Production Planning, Inventory Control, Warehouse, and Material Planning functions
  • Drive Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP)
  • Optimize inventory while maintaining outstanding customer service levels
  • Improve ERP/MRP utilization and business reporting
  • Develop executive-level KPI dashboards and performance metrics
  • Lead capacity planning and long-range inventory strategies
  • Build strong supplier partnerships and improve supplier performance
  • Expand strategic sourcing initiatives while reducing supply chain risk
  • Support ERP enhancements and continuous process improvements
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Develop scalable systems that support future company growth


Leadership Responsibilities

  • Establish accountability through measurable KPIs
  • Create succession plans and develop future leaders
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives across Operations, Engineering, Sales, Finance, and Quality

  • Drive organizational improvements through data and sound business decisions


Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or related discipline
  • 7+ years of progressive Materials Management or Supply Chain leadership within manufacturing
  • Experience in custom manufacturing, high-mix/low-volume, make-to-order, or sheet metal fabrication environments
  • Strong ERP/MRP systems experience
  • Experience leading purchasing, planning, inventory, warehouse, and supplier management
  • Proven success reducing inventory while improving customer service
  • Experience with SIOP, demand planning, forecasting, and inventory optimization
  • Strong financial understanding of inventory valuation, budgets, and working capital
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team development skills

Preferred

  • MBA
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification
  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience
  • Experience supporting ERP implementations or system upgrades
  • Global sourcing experience
