Description

East West Hospitality is seeking an experienced Building Maintenance Technician to support the daily operations of our Charleston-area condominium and townhome communities. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this hands-on role is ideal for someone with strong handyman skills who enjoys tackling a wide variety of maintenance and repair projects while helping keep our properties safe, functional, and exceptionally well maintained for residents and guests alike!

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform hands-on building maintenance and repairs across multiple trades, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, painting, pool/spa, irrigation, and general handyman work.
  • Complete preventative maintenance, troubleshoot building system issues, and maintain Association-managed equipment, including life safety, access control, and mechanical systems.
  • Respond to resident maintenance requests and after-hours emergencies in a timely, professional manner while documenting completed work as needed.
  • Identify larger repair needs, coordinate with and support vendors/contractors, and monitor work to help ensure quality and timely completion.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas while following all safety protocols and delivering exceptional service to residents, vendors, and team members.

Job Start Date: ASAP

Employment Status:Part-time, Year-round

Schedule:18-24 hours per week with flexible scheduling

Pay Rate:$22-$27/hour DOE

Minimum Requirements

Experience & Education:

  • 2-3 years of experience in property/building maintenance or a similar field.
  • Experience with tools and equipment relevant to building maintenance.
  • Familiarity with HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general repairs.

Skills:

  • Mechanically inclined with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities.
  • Comfortable using basic computer systems and mobile apps for work orders, communication, and task tracking.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortably performing manual labor in various weather conditions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and perform tasks in confined spaces as needed.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
  • Comfortable performing manual labor both indoors and outdoors.
  • Must be able to work in Charleston's variable weather conditions, including high heat and humidity in the summer, occasional cold or wet conditions in winter, and frequent changes in temperature.

Certifications:

  • Valid South Carolina Driver's License required.
  • HVAC and CPO (Certified Pool Operator) certifications are a plus.
