Job description

Our client designs and manufactures intelligent energy storage systems for commercial buildings, enabling more efficient use of traditional and renewable power. Their engineering-driven team develops modular battery technology for dense environments where safety, reliability, and performance are essential.

We are hiring a hands-on Project Engineer to lead intelligent energy system deployments across commercial sites with full ownership of project delivery. You will partner with internal teams, customers, and contractors throughout feasibility, design and engineering, permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning, testing, and ongoing operations and maintenance.

Success requires strong technical expertise, clear communication, and an ownership mindset. You will make sound engineering decisions, resolve issues efficiently, and help build scalable field deployment processes while supporting advanced energy infrastructure projects that contribute to a more resilient and efficient power ecosystem.

Responsibilities
* Lead site implementation from concept through operation, including civil and utility design coordination, permitting, contractor management, and construction oversight.
* Own the full deployment lifecycle ('cradle to grave') across multiple customer sites, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to quality standards.
* Produce and maintain technical documentation and installation support materials for product implementation.
* Optimize and standardize site installation concepts and designs to enable scalable, reliable, and cost-effective deployments.
* Interface with customer site managers, MEP engineers, and professional engineers to ensure drawings and designs meet building codes and regulatory requirements.
* Coordinate with customers, contractors, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) to complete feasibility studies, permitting, and approvals.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams during physical installation, software configuration, commissioning, testing, and final system sign-off.
* Support continuous improvement of deployment processes, tools, and best practices.
* Perform other duties as required to support successful project execution.
* Applies AI tools to improve project tracking, documentation, and field execution.

Basic Qualifications
 * Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or closely related field).
 * Minimum 5 years of experience in infrastructure, building engineering, construction engineering, or related fields.
 * Ability to interpret, create, and review system wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, and installation schematics.
 * Strong project management skills with attention to detail, scheduling, and risk management.
 * Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
 * Ability to work independently, exercise sound engineering judgment, and manage multiple field deployments concurrently.
 * Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, and similar codes.

Preferred Qualifications
 * Professional Engineer (PE) license.
 * Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar CAD/layout tools for site and installation drawings.
 * Experience deploying energy storage systems, industrial switchgear, or similar equipment.
 * Familiarity with commissioning, system debugging, and diagnostics tools.
 * Experience with Python or similar scripting languages for testing, automation, or troubleshooting.
 * PMP certification or equivalent construction/project management experience.

Additional Requirements:
 * This role is based in Irvine, CA and requires being onsite.
 * Travel is expected to support deployment.

Benefits
 * Competitive total compensation package with meaningful upside.
 * Premium medical, dental, and vision plans.
 * Generous PTO and company holiday calendar.
 * Team-building activities and company-sponsored events.
