Commercial Building Engineer

Direct Hire | West Hollywood, CA 90069

Pay: $35–$45/hour | $72,500–$93,600 annually

Hourly Position


Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Building Engineer to support the day-to-day engineering and building operations of a Class A commercial office property in West Hollywood. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and building operations, along with excellent tenant and vendor relations skills.


Class A commercial office experience is required.


Key Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering and maintenance services for commercial building operations.
  • Conduct daily building inspections and identify maintenance or operational issues.
  • Manage and maintain building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve building system issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Operate and monitor Building Management System (BMS) software.
  • Maintain and execute the building's preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Respond to tenant service requests and provide a high level of customer service.
  • Maintain positive, professional relationships with tenants and respond promptly to their needs.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure quality products and services.
  • Provide emergency/on-call services for assigned buildings as required.
  • Assist with projects and other building-related duties as assigned.
  • Manage multiple priorities while maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient building environment.
Requirements
  • 5–10 years of experience as a Commercial Building Engineer or General Building Engineer.
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial HVAC experience.
  • Class A commercial office experience required.
  • Strong general mechanical knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of various building equipment, systems, tools, and machinery.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent tenant/customer service skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with vendors and suppliers.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with smartphones, iPads, and building management systems.
  • Team-oriented, dependable, and proactive with a "can-do" approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to walk for extended periods throughout the property.
  • Ability to bend knees and lift arms above shoulder level.
  • Ability to use hands and perform repetitive physical tasks.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, and work in various positions as required.
