This position is fully remote, with a preference for candidates based in the Western U.S.—specifically those in the Pacific or Mountain time zones (ideally Washington, Oregon, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Northern California, or Nevada). The role is part of the Windows & Doors Business Unit.

Job Description

The Senior Director of Operations - West leads a manufacturing network of 8 plants across the Western US, driving performance in service, cost, safety, and quality. The role oversees operational strategy, resource stewardship, and continuous improvement, ensuring alignment with the company’s manufacturing excellence roadmap. This leader manages long‑term operational planning while executing near‑term actions that enable structured, sustainable change.

Key expectations include championing team safety, building trust, developing talent, setting high performance standards, communicating effectively, enabling cross‑functional collaboration, and acting as a resilient change agent. The position reports to the SVP of Operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Lead operational culture by building a high‑performance, values‑aligned environment across all manufacturing sites.
  2. Drive manufacturing excellence by advancing the manufacturing excellence roadmap and ensuring accountability for results.
  3. Embed lean practices by implementing lean systems and root‑cause problem solving to improve processes and engagement.
  4. Oversee new product introduction by ensuring successful piloting and launch of new products.
  5. Ensure safety and quality by maintaining safe operations, protecting company assets, and upholding quality compliance and Right‑First‑Time performance.
  6. Develop talent and capability by building leadership and technical skills through targeted development and clear priorities.
  7. Optimize the cost structure by leading simplification and COGS‑reduction initiatives to deliver year‑over‑year savings.
  8. Forecast workforce needs by determining workforce size and skill mix through data‑driven planning.
  9. Promote inclusive leadership by fostering respectful, inclusive relationships across teams.
  10. Strengthen work environments by maintaining productive, well‑designed environments that support employee well‑being.
  11. Oversee equipment and CQV by guiding new equipment planning and ensuring effective Commissioning, Qualification, and Verification processes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in engineering or business
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of manufacturing experience across areas such as packaging, process engineering, warehousing, and assembly.
  • 5+ years of people‑leadership experience with demonstrated success developing teams.
  • Prior Plant Management experience required
  • Multi-site leadership experience required
  • Proven application of lean tools and systems to drive sustained continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated success leading transformational change in operations, culture, and team capability.
  • Experience navigating complex operational challenges and delivering measurable performance turnarounds.
  • Experience operating within formal management systems and ensuring compliant execution.
  • Cross‑functional leadership experience with strong decision‑making capability.
  • Operational and financial acumen with experience overseeing key performance metrics.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain functions including planning, logistics, quality, materials management, and inventory control.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 50% within region as required.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $230,000 - $250,000+ along with bonus, medical, dental, vision benefits starting day 1, and 401k and PTO. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
