Job description

Senior Electrical Engineer

Seattle, WA | Full-Time

Are you a seasoned Electrical Engineer with 7-18 years of experience designing electrical systems for commercial and industrial buildings?

We’re looking for a licensed Professional Engineer to lead electrical design on a diverse portfolio that ranges from small tenant improvements to 500,000+ SF advanced manufacturing facilities, including K-12 and higher education, healthcare, civic, and mission-critical projects.

You’ll bring strong technical depth across power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, low-voltage and special systems, fire alarm, and building decarbonization/electrification infrastructure. Just as important, you’ll lead client meetings, translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences, and coordinate across multiple disciplines, both in-house and with external sub-consultants, to deliver integrated, high-performing projects.

What You’ll Do

Engineering & Design:

  • Design electrical systems for commercial and industrial facilities, including power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm and detection, low-voltage and special systems (security, AV, paging, access control), and electrical infrastructure supporting building decarbonization and electrification (EV charging, heat pump and induction loads, on-site generation, and energy storage).
  • Perform engineering calculations and prepare load letters, short circuit analysis, and photovoltaic production studies.
  • Produce design documentation primarily in Revit (with AutoCAD and Bluebeam as supporting tools) and use industry-standard analysis software for lighting (e.g., AGi32, Visual), power systems (e.g., SKM, ETAP, EasyPower), and generator sizing (e.g., CAT, Cummins).
  • Work with utility companies on service requirements.
  • Prepare technical specifications and equipment selections.

Project Coordination & Management:

  • Coordinate across disciplines, with mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection engineers in-house and with external sub-consultants (structural, technology, security, lighting design), to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Coordinate the work of designers, CAD staff, and technical personnel as it pertains to the electrical team.
  • Support project milestones by estimating task hours and monitoring team progress.
  • Assist with proposals, scheduling, and budget estimates.
  • Take on leadership duties within the Electrical department, including mentoring junior engineers, supporting professional development, and helping shape team standards and workflows.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Lead client meetings, present design concepts and progress, and translate complex technical information into clear, accessible language for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Maintain vendor and supplier relationships; evaluate product data and coordinate selection.
  • Provide oversight and mentorship to junior technical staff and support onboarding/training.

What You Bring to the Team

Education & Licensure:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is not required; Washington State registration required at hire or obtainable via reciprocity within 6 months.

Experience:

  • 7-18 years of progressive electrical engineering experience designing systems for commercial and industrial buildings, with project experience ranging from small tenant improvements to large (500,000+ SF) facilities.
  • Demonstrated project experience across multiple market sectors, such as K-12 and higher education, advanced manufacturing and industrial, healthcare, civic/public, and mission-critical facilities.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) & Bluebeam.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Revit (MEP discipline) required; working knowledge of AutoCAD and other electrical engineering design and analysis software (e.g., AGi32, Visual, SKM, ETAP, EasyPower).
  • Working knowledge across the full electrical scope: power distribution, lighting design and controls, low-voltage and special systems, fire alarm, and building decarbonization/electrification infrastructure (EV charging, on-site generation, energy storage).
  • Understanding of Construction Standards Institute (CSI) specification format.
