As we continue expanding our presence across Florida, we are seeking a multi-disciplined Plans Examiner & Building Code Inspector to join our growing team in St. Petersburg.
Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced professional to join our team as a Building Code Inspector. This position is central to ensuring compliance with the Florida Building Code and local regulations through on-site inspections of residential and commercial properties. You will work closely with contractors, developers, and local building departments to facilitate the fast, efficient inspection process our clients rely on.
Key Responsibilities
Building Inspections
  • Conduct thorough inspections at all stages of construction to verify compliance with structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing codes.
  • Document inspection results and notify clients of any required modifications or deficiencies.
  • Complete inspections and reports promptly through easy to use software to support our same-day and next-day service commitments.
General Responsibilities
  • Stay current on Florida Building Code updates, local ordinances, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain detailed and organized records of inspections, correspondence, and project progress.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure a seamless process from initial inspection through final project approval.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in building code inspections or a related field.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
  • At minimum, applicants must be able to hold 1&2 Family Dwelling license
Strongly Preferred:
  • Candidates who also hold one or more standard (commercial) inspector licenses (Building, Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Plumbing) will be given strong preference. Candidates carrying multiple commercial disciplines are particularly encouraged to apply.
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
  • Strong working knowledge of the Florida Building Code, including structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and energy provisions.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction documents, blueprints, and specifications.
Soft Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills for client interactions and issue resolution.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple inspections and projects simultaneously.
