The Senior Manager, Automation Engineering leads the design, integration, and continuous improvement of automation systems within supply chain operations. This role leverages advanced data analysis and project management to drive operational excellence and process optimization. The position requires effective communication across teams to influence strategic decisions and implement technology solutions that enhance efficiency. The successful candidate will oversee automation projects, ensure compliance with standards, and foster collaboration to achieve business objectives while maintaining a focus on innovation and measurable performance improvements.
About the team:
This team leads the development of new capabilities within the Ambient Automation program, focusing on less-than-case pack processes. It plays a pivotal role in transforming Walmart’s distribution network, driving operational advancements that will impact all ambient distribution centers and stores. The team integrates automation, data analysis, and process improvement to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Members collaborate across functions to design and implement innovative solutions, supporting the evolution of supply chain operations through strategic project management and technology integration. This work fosters continuous improvement and operational excellence throughout the network.
What you'll do:
  • Lead the design, integration, and optimization of automation systems to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Partner with both internal and external software teams to ensure all necessary functionality is delivered on time
  • Utilize data analysis and visualization tools to develop insights that inform strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify automation opportunities and resolve technical challenges.
  • Manage project timelines, risks, and resources to ensure successful implementation of automation initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts by analyzing workflows and recommending enhancements.
  • Oversee financial evaluations to ensure automation projects meet return-on-investment targets.

What you'll bring:
  • Extensive experience in automation system design, integration, and control system development within complex operational environments.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, statistical methods, and visualization tools to drive informed decision-making and strategic insights.
  • Strong project management skills, including risk assessment, contingency planning, and cross-functional collaboration.
