Building Automation System Electrician

Conquest Solutions, LLC (CQS) is a leading application and engineering consulting firm in the Washington, D.C. metro area specializing in Building Automation Systems (BAS), Design-build and General Construction. We assist federal, state and local government agencies, private sector companies; and commercial entities in the design and implementation of their BAS and General Construction projects.

CQS has an exciting opportunity for a Building Automation System Electrician to join our team to support the implementation of building automation systems for multiple clients in the Washington, DC Metro Area and some other parts of the country. This position has a 90-day introductory period.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Electrical installation of Floor Level, Mechanical Room Level, Plant Level, Roof Level BAS applications
  • Install, wire, and terminate controllers, and instrumentation devices.
  • Install and bend conduit, wiring and cabling systems.
  • Laying out work to support a successful BAS installation.
  • Perform troubleshooting methods given multiple constraints including project time requirements, lack of documentation from a site, or incomplete installation by others prior to CQS work.
  • Work around other trades to install your work.
  • Manage time effectively as a team player reporting directly to the BAS Electrical Foreman.
  • Be punctual to support teammates and lead successful project delivery.
  • Produce clear, concise, and comprehensive written/electronic reports detailing the status, work performed, deficiencies noted, and corrective actions to the BAS Electrical Foreman.
  • Maintain a high standard of quality and professionalism with regards to workmanship, customer relations, team members, behavior, and appearance.
  • Work safely at all times.

Work Hours:

  • Monday through Friday. Start times vary between 6am and 7am. (Depending on project schedule).
  • A normal workday is 8 work hours. A normal workweek is 40 work hours.
  • Some projects or tasks may require Overtime hours on nights or weekends as required to meet project schedule.

Job Qualifications:

  • Has at least 5 years of work experience in the installation of BAS.
  • A journeyman's electrical license (or higher) is preferred.
  • High school or equivalent (Preferred).
  • Capable of using basic hand and trade specific tools necessary to perform required work.
  • Experience in hardware verification preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical drawings, schematics, specifications, and system manuals and BAS submittal drawings.
  • Be knowledgeable in HVAC and electrical equipment and apparatus that are controlled (directly and indirectly) by the DDC system.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of automatic temperature controls implementation and theory, building automation systems best practices, and other building subsystem metering requirements.
  • Must work independently with little or no supervision while providing guidance to other team members.
  • Excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to be attentive and responsive to client concerns while communicating with CQS management for full team responses.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task within time and technical constraints.
  • Ability to establish effective collaborative working relationships across different functional areas.
  • Must possess a high level of ownership, enthusiasm, and a collaborative, professional temperament.
  • Must be able to pass a stringent Government background check, reference check and a drug screening.
  • Possess and maintain a valid state issued motor vehicle license with a clean driving record as required by the company's insurance carrier to qualify to operate a company vehicle (if eligible).

  • At times, this job can be physically demanding.
  • Capable of climbing and working from ladders and ariel lifts, pulling action, lifting 60 pounds, overhead work, kneeling, crouching, and bending.

Requirements:

  • Minimum US Permanent Resident status is required. US Citizenship is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain federal government security clearance for access to secure government facilities is desirable.
  • Must have the ability to pass a background check, reference check, and pre-employment drug screening.
