What is a buddy?

Buddies in the workplace are experienced employees assigned to help new hires settle into their roles and the company culture. They provide guidance, answer questions, and offer informal support during the onboarding process. The buddy system helps new employees feel welcome, accelerates their learning, and can improve job satisfaction and retention. Buddies typically share insights about company processes, social norms, and available resources, making the transition smoother for newcomers.
