Job description

JOB SUMMARY
Assist in the performance of the day-to-day BSA compliance and monitoring functions of accounts. Review and monitor suspicious activity and take necessary actions to mitigate risk to both the member and the credit union.
ESSENTIAL FUCTIONS - Listed below are some of the essential functions to carry out this job.
  • Review daily alerts generated from BSA/AML/CFT software and clearly document all decisions for acknowledging alerts that are determined to pose no increase risk or fraud related losses to the credit union or its members. Analyze alerts to identify specific risky transactions and/or member behaviors that may require investigate action, report all incidences to supervisor for follow-up instruction.
  • Participate in the analysis of the daily activity of all credit union transactions and member data to ensure compliance with BSA/AML/CFT and OFAC as it relates to currency transaction reporting (CTR), exemptions and suspicious activity reporting (SAR).
  • Assist with the quality review on new member forms and documentation to ensure company is in compliance with BSA.
  • Follow "Red Flags" policy and procedures to appropriately add or update the customer and/or account records.
  • Ensure all CTRs are completed accurately and filed in accordance with regulatory timeframes.
  • Escalate all list matching alerts (OFAC, 314a, PEP, etc.) identified as true hits to management for further review.
  • Provide assistance as needed to support the programs maintained by Deposit Operations.
  • Ensure confidentiality within all areas of responsibility.
  • Act as an ambassador to the company and promote credit union products; including deposit and loan products, online and business services.
  • Adherence with credit union policies that could be amended from time to time.
  • Follow all procedures pertaining to the Credit Union's policies of BSA, USA Patriot Act, and OFAC. Attend trainings when available and to keep abreast of all information regarding changes and updates. Report to Management any acts of disregard to these policies. Successfully complete all company required and job specific training.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERRED SKILLS
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Six months or more of banking experience.
  • Knowledge of banking rules, regulations, policies and procedures with an emphasis on BSA Regulations preferred.
  • Must be organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Bilingual (Spanish and/or Portuguese) a plus.

Physical Demands Efforts
This function requires moderate standing, walking and sitting. Will be sitting while performing computer data entry functions. Position does not involve climbing or crawling but may on occasion kneel/squat. Requires lifting and moderate carrying of items up to 25 pounds such as a banker's box. Ability to operate normal office equipment such as, telephone, copy machine, fax, scanner, and computer.
