Role Overview / Purpose and Scope

The Broiler Field Service Technician serves as a technical resource for Farmer Focus growers by providing guidance and support related to poultry production, farm facilities, equipment, medication programs, and operational practices. This role uses knowledge of poultry farming, hatchery operations, processing, and production standards to help farmers improve flock health, production efficiency, product quality, and compliance with company and cooperative agreement requirements.

The Broiler Field Service Technician playsan important rolein supporting grower relationships, animal health, production performance, continuous improvement, and the delivery of quality poultry products. This position requiresstrong communication, problem-solving, technical, and relationship-building skills, as well as the ability to travel to farms and work effectively with farmers, management, laboratory personnel, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect farms for compliance with contract and cooperative agreement standards.
• Advise farmersregardingdevelopment programs and best practices that support quality poultry production.
• Tour farms to inspect facilities, equipment, sanitation, and operational efficiency.
• Examine chickens for evidence of disease, flock health concerns, and growth rate.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of medication and feeding programs.
• Recommend changes in facilities, equipment, medication, or farm practices to improve production.
• Inform farmers of new procedures, techniques, government regulations, company standards, andassociationproduction standards.
• Support farmers in upgrading farms and meeting applicable requirements.
• Recommend laboratory testing of diseased chickens, feed, supplements, or other samples as needed.
• Gather samples and transport them to the plant laboratory for analysis whenrequired.
• Report farm conditions, laboratory test results, recommendations, farmer feedback, and farmer efforts to management.
• Initiate corrective, preventive, and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Activelyparticipatein developing, implementing, and verifying corrective and improvement actions.
• Enter production and downtime information accurately andtimely.
• Build andmaintaineffective working relationships with farmers, internal teams, management, and other stakeholders.
• Operate company-provided vehicles or personal vehicles for work-related business asrequired.
• Follow all safety rules and instructions, including wearing and usingappropriate personalprotective equipment.
• Participate in company training programs and make every effort to learn, develop, and upgrade skillsrequiredfor the role.
• Participate on the audit team or safety committee as needed.
• Perform all other relatedduties asassigned by management.

Compensation: $50,000 - $65,000

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Any combination of experience, education, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for the role.
• Knowledge of poultry farming, broiler production, hatchery operations, processing, or related agricultural operations.
• Ability to inspect farm facilities, equipment, sanitation, flock health, and production practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written communication.
• Proficient skills in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business procedures, work instructions, training materials, and professional documents.
• Proficient PC skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, SMART devices, and internal company programs or applications.
• Proficient math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, common fractions, and decimals.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Effective problem-solving and resolution skills.
• Ability to exercise good judgment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in poultry science, animal science, agriculture, business, ora relatedfield.
• Priorbroiler field service, live operations, poultry production, grower relations, hatchery, farm management, or processing experience.
• Experience inspecting poultry farms or supporting growers with production, flock health, equipment, facilities, or compliance matters.
• Experience collecting samples, recommending lab testing, or interpreting production and flock performance information.
• Experience supporting corrective actions, preventive actions, audits, safety committees, or continuous improvement initiatives.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Travel

Work is conducted primarily in a field-based environment, including poultry farms, company facilities, office settings, and other work locations as needed. This role requires regular travel to farms and may requireoperatinga company-provided vehicle or personal vehicle for work-related business. This position regularly requiresuseof a telephone or cell phone, computer, keyboard, SMART devices, email, and other communication tools. The teammembermaybe requiredto stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time. The role may also require stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting, reaching, and physically moving light equipment or supplies from one place to another. This position requires the essential use of hands, speech, eyesight, and hearing. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to adjust focus as needed, and color vision.This position requires fine hand and finger dexterity and may require lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.The noise level for this work environment is typically low to moderate but may vary depending on farm, facility, or plant conditions. The teammembermustcomply withall safety rules and instructions,participatein company training programs, and make every effort to learn, develop, and upgrade skillsrequiredfor the role.
