Position Overview
The Sales Representative is responsible for driving business growth by developing new customer relationships and expanding existing accounts, with a specialized focus on Industrial Shop Painting and Custom Insulation Blankets. This role requires a deep understanding of both product lines, their applications, and the unique value they bring to industrial clients.
Key Responsibilities
Shop Painting
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of industrial shop painting processes, including surface preparation (abrasive blasting, cleaning, degreasing), coating selection (epoxy, polyurethane, zinc-rich primers), and application methods (spray, brush, roller).
• Advise customers on the most suitable painting systems for their assets, considering factors such as substrate material, environmental exposure, corrosion protection, and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with operations to ensure project specifications, quality standards, and timelines are met for shop-applied coatings.
• Stay current on industry trends, new coating technologies, and best practices in surface protection to position Brock Industrial Services as a technical leader.
• Conduct facility tours and technical presentations to educate customers on the advantages of shop-applied coatings versus field applications, including improved quality control, reduced downtime, and cost efficiency.
Custom Insulation Blankets
• Possess in-depth knowledge of custom insulation blanket design, fabrication, and installation for industrial applications (e.g., piping, valves, equipment).
• Consult with customers to assess thermal, acoustic, and personnel protection needs, recommending tailored blanket solutions that meet performance and safety requirements.
• Prepare and deliver technical proposals, including material specifications (e.g., fiberglass, silica, PTFE), fastening systems, and installation methods.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure custom blankets are manufactured to precise dimensions and installed correctly on-site or in the shop.
• Educate customers on the benefits of removable/reusable insulation blankets, such as energy savings, ease of maintenance, and compliance with OSHA standards.
Required Skills & Experience
• Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial shop painting or insulation blanket sales, project management, or technical support.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and coating/insulation standards (e.g., SSPC, NACE, ASTM).
• Strong communication skills to translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling value propositions for customers.
• Proven track record of building relationships with plant managers, maintenance supervisors, engineers, and procurement professionals in industrial settings.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; relevant certifications (e.g., NACE Coating Inspector, Insulation Energy Appraiser) are a plus.
Working Conditions
• Frequent visits to industrial shops, fabrication facilities, and customer sites to assess project requirements and oversee product delivery.
• Occasional travel throughout the Chicagoland and Great Lakes regions to support business development and customer engagement.
Location
• Joliet, IL
