DEPARTMENT: Communications & Broadcasting
INTERNSHIP: Broadcasting Internship (Unpaid)
DIRECT REPORT: Play by Play Broadcaster / Communications Coordinator
(2026-27 Season, September 202 - May 2027)
JOB SUMMARY:The Florida Everblades Hockey Club of the ECHL offers an opportunity to college students looking to gain real-world broadcasting, media relations & communications experience and position themselves for a career in the Sports Industry upon graduation. The ideal candidate would be experienced in broadcasting, available to work during regular office hours, and required to attend all home games (in-person) & away games (remote work in Estero, FL).
FUNCTIONS:The Broadcasting Intern will be responsible for several key functions of the Florida Everblades Hockey Club's day-to-day and game operations, assisting the Communications Coordinator & Play By Play Broadcaster along with department staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in broadcasting work for all Everblades games.
  • Assist in the creation of all home and away game highlights.
  • Write feature articles & create video content to be published on the Everblades website and other online platforms.
  • Compile game notes, bios, game previews, game recaps, and statistical packages for all personnel needed and communication channels following league requirements & guidelines.
  • Assist in media interactions with team members, including setting up our live post-game press conference with media members, players, and coaching staff, which follows each home game.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned by the department personnel.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Broadcasting experience is required.
  • Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program and eligible for college credit.
  • Interested in pursuing a career in sports journalism.
  • Available 20-25 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and game days.
  • Demonstrated writing and grammar proficiency in AP Style.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism within a professional sports environment and in media work zones.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) & Adobe Creative Cloud (Adobe Premiere, InDesign, Photoshop)
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Familiarity with Ice Hockey (preferred but not required)
  • Flexibility in terms of handling a variety of assignments under tight deadlines while maintaining a strong focus on branding, consistency and quality.
