Job description

The Sr. Digital Support Specialist - Audio position exists to create, publish, and maintain digital content for the Audio Department at Focus on the Family, including websites and pages for all audio broadcasts, podcasts, and videos created by the department. Additionally, this position is responsible for researching, collecting, analyzing, and summarizing complex data associated with each of the audio programs into various reports and presentations. This position applies considerable initiative and independent judgment with most deadline-oriented duties being executed with only general direction. The person in this role will be called upon to leverage knowledge of podcast media organization to inform both the network and individual show strategies. Additionally, this position supports the Broadcast Programming Scheduler, working with many detailed aspects of the broadcast schedule and its logistics including facilitation of dynamic ad insertion of audio spots for podcasts. As the number of shows increases, this position is intended and expected to provide oversight to junior level team members.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepares, publishes, and maintains textual and multimedia content in accord with the digital strategy, editorial calendars, and coordinated marketing plans
  • Performs daily verification of RSS feed functionality
  • Creates, updates, and maintains digital elements (e.g., landing pages, episode pages, source-coded URLs, and UTM-encoded links) that require functional knowledge of WordPress and basic knowledge of HTML
  • Is responsible for the daily oversight of a growing number of shows (19 as of November 2023) across 3 different webpage authoring systems with an expected annual increase in the number of shows adding 3 to 5 per fiscal year
  • Is responsible for maintenance of the Focus on the Family mobile app
  • Maintains, manages, and publishes show content utilizing WordPress, OmnyStudio hosting platform, Podpage website platform, and Subsplash mobile app platform
  • Collaborates with multiple departments such as Digital Solutions, Legal, and Marketing to update and launch podcast promotions and facilitate new program debuts
  • Publishes response and key analytic metric reports for all shows
  • Maintains functional knowledge of UX best practices, industry standards, and needs
  • Consistently monitors new industry technologies, trends, and best practices (Podcasting 2.0)
  • Daily management and automation of show scheduling within online authoring systems, including maintenance of asset library
  • Daily management of promotional spot flights in the Dynamic Ad Insertion tool, currently Triton Digital TAP
  • Constructs tracking mechanisms and works in coordination with Marketing to create measurables for website engagement and traffic across digital platforms
  • Collaborates daily with program producers to assist with the creation, editing, and WordPress publication of transcripts
  • Frequently engages with the Web Solutions team to ensure optimal user experience is provided for show listeners across all websites
  • Serves as key liaison with IT, Digital Solutions, Web Solutions, and outside vendors for collaborative web-based solutions
  • Provides after-hours and weekend support for content publishing
  • Assists the Broadcast Programming Scheduler with the active broadcast schedule, adjusting the daily schedule as required and sending related notifications to staff as directed
  • Conducts research needed for various projects
  • Conducts informational reporting pertaining to measurable results from published programs beyond what is provided in response reports listed above
  • Performs data entry duties into systems to include OmnyStudio, Triton Digital, WordPress, SmartSheet, and SharePoint
  • Performs regular quality assurance of audio files to ensure accuracy
  • Manages and maintains comprehensive technical documentation, including documents associated with website designs and related technical specifications
  • Manages and maintains comprehensive technical documentation of Podcast Network and RSS feeds
  • Interfaces with other departments within the ministry and/or outside contacts to exchange information, answer inquiries, consult on problems, and secure cooperation or approval on action to be taken

  • Knowledge of Paid Advertisements and Dynamic Ad Insertion technologies for radio and podcasting
  • Knowledge of RSS and RSS 2.0 functionalities
  • Broadcast/Podcast production experience helpful

Pay Range: $75,456 to $90,202
