What we need

The Product Development Manager will support the conceptualization and early development of commercial products. This role is responsible for identifying innovative market opportunities, building business cases to assess and prioritize new offerings, and maintaining a product roadmap. The role will work closely with teams across BCBSMA to develop products that meet customer needs and drive targeted business growth.

This position is eligible for the Flex persona. This is a hybrid position, based out of our Hingham or Boston office. Associates who live within 50 miles of the office are expected to work in-person 2 days a week.

Your Day to Day

  • Conduct ongoing market surveillance of competitor actions and industry trends to identify strategic opportunities and determine the optimal timing for launching new solutions

  • Define, communicate, and maintain a clear product vision and roadmap based on customer feedback, industry insights, and opportunities identified in data analysis

  • Create and manage rigorous, data-driven business cases for new product opportunities, including product specific ROI projections and feasibility analysis

  • Drive detailed assessment of new product concepts in partnership with Finance, Actuarial, ET, Operations, and other relevant stakeholders to determine overall concept viability

  • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of market offerings against corporate goals

  • Drive product affordability initiatives by identifying key drivers of medical cost trend, analyzing financial impacts of benefit changes, and developing product strategies to contribute to lowering the total cost of care

  • Partner to develop the initial go-to-market (GTM) strategy for new product launches, including defining the value proposition

  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and other key stakeholders to gather ongoing feedback to ensure product success

  • Develop and present compelling narratives to leadership regarding product strategy, performance, and growth opportunities

We're Looking for:

  • Ability to translate complex healthcare industry challenges into clear, actionable product opportunities

  • Strong financial acumen with experience in business case development

  • Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to assess program performance and make data-driven recommendations for improvement

  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) with the ability to articulate a compelling product vision and its value proposition

  • Excellent organizational and project facilitation skills, with a proven ability to lead collaborative discussions and drive projects to completion

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate matrixed teams and achieve goals through creative problem-solving. Comfortable with ambiguity and capable of working independently

  • High standards of professionalism, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering excellent results

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or other Master's degree is a plus

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in product development

  • Experience in the healthcare industry is strongly preferred

This job is also eligible for variable pay.
