Job description

Job Summary

The Driver Helper supports Brightmore Brands’ donation collection operations by assisting Drivers with safe, timely, and efficient pick-up, delivery, and servicing of donation sites, boxes, and materials. This role contributes directly to the company’s mission of sustainability and reuse by ensuring donations are handled with care, sites remain clean and presentable, and donors receive exceptional service.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and professionalism when interacting with donors, community partners, and the general public.
  • Assist Drivers with the setup, servicing, and maintenance of donation boxes, trailers, and donation station sites, ensuring each location is clean, orderly, and visually presentable.
  • Support special two-person routes, including residential pick-ups, community donation events, garage/estate sale collections, and large-scale fundraiser drives.
  • Help with the placement, relocation, removal, and minor repair of donation boxes, trailers, and containers as directed by leadership.
  • Safely load, unload, and transport donations, supplies, equipment, and materials from trucks and trailers throughout the day.
  • Sort, stack, secure, and protect donations during transport to prevent damage and ensure efficient unloading at warehouses or store locations.
  • Conduct basic site cleanup such as removing debris, straightening signage, and ensuring boxes are not overflowing to maintain a professional appearance.
  • Assist with completing route paperwork, documenting site conditions, and reporting service completion when required.
  • Identify and promptly report damaged equipment, vandalism, overflowing sites, unsafe conditions, or logistical issues to the Driver or Supervisor.
  • Follow all Brightmore Brands safety standards, procedures, and PPE requirements, including proper lifting techniques and safe driving support practices.
  • Support Drivers with minor equipment troubleshooting (locks, lids, anchors, straps, etc.) and escalate repair needs to the appropriate team.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times, including keeping vehicles, tools, and supplies in good working order.
  • Assist with inventory rotation of supplies (locks, signage, straps, cleaning supplies) to ensure routes are properly equipped.
  • Provide courteous and informative responses to donor questions about donation guidelines, locations, and company mission.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Experience in warehouse, trucking, delivery, or donation collection environments preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50lbs.
  • Perform a physically demanding role that requires making 25 to 50 stops per day for pickups and deliveries.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods while driving routes and maintain alertness and focus on the road. Requires regular physical activity in outdoor and warehouse environments, including exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and weather conditions.
