Job description

SUMMARY:  Uses independent judgment to oversee all aspects of the branch operations of the Shop, Service, Sales and Sanitation departments including the training and supervision of its employees at assigned specific branch.  Ensures excellent customer service through the timely and accurate delivery of services, including delivery on rental orders and the management of price negotiations and quotes.  Resolves customer issues, referring them to the Operations Manager first and then to the President, when appropriate.  Provides supervision to Shop, Service, Sales and Sanitation staff to ensure work quality and growth in knowledge and competency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Operations:

  • Assists the Executive Staff with planning for current and future program effectiveness in addition to budget planning.
  • Oversees employees in the Shop, Service, Sales and Sanitation departments.
  • Manages truck, tractor and toilet rental inquiries, quotes and contracts.
  • Coordinates and implements staff training for service technicians in best practices of equipment repair and safety.
  • Ensures that tractors, toilets and other rental products are available, ready and prepped for timely delivery.
  • Coordinates with Service Manager on schedules of service repair and maintenance of equipment in the shop and/or customer job site; including coordinating response to breakdowns with road technicians.
  • Ability to perform basic financial calculations and understand profit & loss statements.
  • Works with the Executive Staff to develop and maintain branch budget.
  • Manages and maintains branch daily operations, profitability, customer service level and quality control and overall branch growth.
  • Maintains compliance with permits, government regulations and other industry practices.
  • Works closely with the Sales Staff on sales growth, performance and forecast.
  • Enforces a clean and safe work environment for everyone.

Customer Service:

  • Processes customer orders and quotes, resolves negotiations and issues.
  • Monitors fulfillment of rental orders to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Assures the PAR and Star rentals are serviced or replaced quickly in the event of a breakdown or other problem.

Education and/or Experience: 

  • At least 5 years of experience within the rental industry or a similar work environment with a proven track record of effective decision-making and excellent people management skills.
  • Equipment Industry experience.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Familiar with Ag and rental equipment preferred.
  • Mechanical experience is a plus.

Computer Skills:

  • Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Rentalman a plus.

Language Skills:

  • English.
  • Ability to respond to basic inquiries and present information effectively to customers, co-workers, and management verbally and in writing.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to apply math concepts to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work time is split between the office, shop and yard in a variety of weather.
  • Regular time is spent on the computer and phone.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
