About the Associate Director of Operations Role:

BRIC seeks an Associate Director, Operations to oversee the day-to-day operations of BRIC's venues, including facilities and building management, rental events, and audience services. Reporting to the Senior Director, Production & Operations, this role directly supervises the Manager, Internal Events & Facilities and the Operations Manager, Events & Revenue, ensuring that BRIC's spaces are safe, welcoming, and revenue-generating in support of the organization's programming and mission.


What You'll Do in the Role:

The Associate Director of Operations will be responsible for the following in addition to any other project as assigned by their manager, the Senior Director, Production & Operations:

Leadership & Team Management

  • Directly supervise the Operations Manager, Facilities & Building Management and the Operations Manager, Events & Revenue through mission-based goal setting, providing timely feedback, conducting performance assessments, and prioritizing workloads
  • Oversee full time and part time staffing, scheduling, and training across Operations, Custodial, Public Safety, and Front-of-House Teams
  • Train team members and reinforce standards of accountability, equity, and high customer service across the Operations team

Building, Facilities & Capital Planning

  • Oversee the overall operations of BRIC House, 75 Rockwell, and additional BRIC site, ensuring safe, clean, and compliant facilities
  • Contribute to long-term planning for space use and facility needs across BRIC venues in partnership with the Senior Director, Production & Operations
  • Coordinate capital projects at BRIC House within established scope, timeline, and budget reporting on progress and outcomes to key stakeholders
  • Manage relationships with external facilities management companies and partner organizations including UrbanGlass, who enhabits a portion of BRIC House
  • Review and vendor selection for all building projects, preventative maintenance, and as needed repair work while ensuring that work meets BRIC standards
  • Respond in a timely manner to urgent building and facility needs, collaborating and communicating with any affected departments

Programming, Partnerships, and Clients

  • Manage Operations for BRIC Programming and Partnerships live events including generating cost estimates, calendaring shared spaces, and staffing
  • Create and manage organization-wide event management software systems
  • Coordinate with Programming teams to prevent possible calendaring conflicts

Cross-Functional Coordination & Reporting

  • Collaborate with internal BRIC departments including Production, Community Impact, Producing, Finance, Development, Marketing, Community Media, and People & Culture on operational needs
  • Provide input to departmental budget planning and track expenditures, escalating variances to the Senior Director of Production & Operations
  • Set goals and report on operations performance including physical assets, revenue, audience services, and safety
  • Implement strategic direction set by the Senior Director, Production & Operations

  • Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, plus 5+ years in operations or venue management at an arts, theater, or cultural organization, including staff management
    • Demonstrated experience overseeing facilities, building operations, capital projects, and vendor relationships across multiple venues
    • Track record of managing rentals, audience services, or earned revenue programs and meeting revenue goals
    • Strong working knowledge of building systems, ADA and accessibility requirements, and health and safety compliance
    • Proven ability to manage budgets, lead teams, and collaborate across departments at all levels of an organization
    • Fluency in organizational planning and event management software such as Asana, Momentus, and Google Suites
  • Communication & Relationship Building: An emotionally intelligent, values- and results-driven leader who can inspire staff and collaborate across departments and at all levels of the organization
  • Commitment to Equity & Inclusion: Brings experience operationalizing equity within the operations

  • Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is $65K - $80K.
  • Status and location: This is a full-time, exempt role based in our Brooklyn office.

BRIC currently pays 100% of the premium for employee medical, dental and vision coverage starting on the first of the month after 2 months of employment.
