What does it mean to brew coffee?

To brew coffee means to extract flavors from coffee grounds by mixing them with hot water. This process can be done using various methods such as drip brewing, French press, espresso machines, or pour-over. The goal is to dissolve the desirable oils and compounds from the coffee grounds to create a flavorful beverage. Each brewing method can affect the taste, strength, and texture of the coffee. Understanding the basics of brewing helps ensure a delicious cup every time.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a barista, and why are they important?
