Description

UNC Health Medical Group has a need for a Board Certified/Eligible Radiologist (MD/DO) for a per diem position at our UNC Rockingham Wright Imaging Center located in Eden, NC. This position will be a dedicated Diagnostic Breast Imaging Specialist and should be fellowship training or have extensive experience in breast imaging. The specialist will focus on the interpretation of breast imaging studies, including mammography, breast ultrasound, and breast MRI, as well as perform image-guided breast procedures such as biopsies and localizations. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality, patient-centered breast care, ensuring timely and accurate diagnoses for our patients. This is an onsite position, currently working on Mondays. The day of week is flexible!

Commuting radius from Danville & Martinsville, VA (35 min); Greensboro, NC (40 min); Burlington, NC (50 min); High Point & Winston-Salem, NC (1 hour); Chapel Hill, Durham, NC, & Roanoke, VA (1.5 hours); Charlotte, Raleigh, Pinehurst, NC, & Lynchburg, VA (2 hours).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret Breast Imaging Studies: Read and interpret digital mammograms, 3D tomosynthesis, and breast ultrasounds, ensuring accurate and timely diagnosis.
  • Perform Image-Guided Procedures: Conduct image-guided breast biopsies, cyst aspirations, and wire or seed localizations.
  • Collaborate with Multidisciplinary Teams: Work closely with breast surgeons, oncologists, pathologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Patient Consultation: Communicate imaging findings to referring physicians and directly to patients when appropriate, ensuring patients understand their diagnoses and options.
  • Quality Assurance & Improvement: Participate in quality assurance programs, including review of callback rates, peer reviews, and diagnostic accuracy.
  • Continued Education: Stay updated with the latest advancements in breast imaging technology and procedures, participating in continuing medical education (CME) activities as required.
  • Participation in Breast Cancer Screening Programs: Support and promote breast cancer awareness and screening initiatives within the community.
