What are branded environments?

Branded environments are physical or digital spaces that are intentionally designed to reflect and communicate a company's brand identity. These environments use elements such as colors, logos, signage, architecture, and interactive experiences to create an immersive atmosphere that reinforces brand values and messaging. They are commonly found in retail stores, corporate offices, events, trade shows, and even virtual spaces. The goal is to create a memorable and cohesive brand experience for visitors, customers, or employees.

How does a branded environments professional typically collaborate with clients and other creative teams during a project?

Branded Environments professionals work closely with clients, architects, graphic designers, and marketing teams to ensure that physical spaces effectively reflect a brand's identity. They often participate in client meetings to understand brand goals, then translate those insights into cohesive spatial designs. Throughout the project, they coordinate with fabricators, interior designers, and project managers to bring concepts to life, balancing creative vision with practical considerations. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential, as the role requires regular feedback exchanges and alignment across diverse disciplines.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a branded environments designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Branded Environments Designer, you need a strong background in interior design, architecture, or graphic design, often supported by a relevant degree and portfolio. Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and sometimes 3D rendering tools is essential. Creativity, strong client communication, and project management skills set standout designers apart. These competencies ensure the creation of immersive, cohesive spaces that effectively communicate a brand’s identity and meet client objectives.

Job description

Who We Are

Decorworx is a design and branding firm that transforms commercial retail spaces into remarkable customer destinations. Our team specializes in creating immersive brand experiences through strategic design, environmental graphics, and customized retail décor. As an Interior Graphic Designer, you’ll bring spaces to life—floor to ceiling—creating branded experiences that spark customer engagement and elevate the retailer's presence in their community.

Objectives of this Role

This multidisciplinary design role merges spatial planning, brand strategy, graphic design, interior design, and visual storytelling to shape physical retail environments. You will collaborate with internal teams and external clients to develop creative design solutions that reflect each logo’s identity in-store. Using a mix of interior design principles and environmental graphics, you’ll execute crafted floor to ceiling design solutions for retailers across the United States.

The ideal candidate is passionate about crafting meaningful customer experiences, has a keen eye for spatial detail, and thrives in a collaborative environment. You’ll use industry-leading design software and recognized interior design materials to communicate branded environments that are both functional and inspiring.

What You’ll Do

Environmental & Experiential Design

  • Develop branded environmental design concepts including signage, fixtures, layouts, and interior finishes
  • Execute floor-to-ceiling visual concepts for retail and public spaces, incorporating décor, furnishings, and substrates
  • Create perspective renderings, mock-ups, and spatial layouts to visualize design intent and customer flow
  • Apply knowledge of branded environments, space planning, and retail aesthetics

Brand Translation & Integration

  • Understand client brand strategies and translate them into physical, engaging design elements
  • Design supporting signage, packaging, and merchandising graphics aligned with a brand’s identity
  • Ensure consistent visual language across all touchpoints in the retail space

Collaboration & Presentation

  • Collaborate with creative team members, Account Managers, and Project Managers throughout all project phases
  • Present design concepts to internal stakeholders and external clients, including retailers and brand partners
  • Actively participate in creative critiques, collaborative sessions, and internal team trainings
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables to ensure all work is completed on time and meets quality standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design, Graphic Design, Interior Design, or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of working experience in experiential graphic design, branded environments, or interior design
  • Portfolio demonstrating environmental, retail, and branded design solutions
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Experience with perspective mock-ups using rendering and modeling tools (Illustrator, SketchUp, Revit, or similar) appreciated
  • Familiarity with interior finishes (paint, laminates, flooring, millwork, etc), construction and manufacturing materials, and merchandising systems
  • Strong spatial awareness and attention to design detail
  • Excellent problem-solver and innovator
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Enjoys collaborating with others, accepting constructive critique to improve design solutions, and working autonomously to complete assignments
  • Active learner keeping abreast of current trends and forecasting new developments to execute superior design solutions
  • Ability to balance creativity and efficiency in a deadline-driven environment
  • Occasional travel for site visits and installations may be required

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive benefits, including paid time off, health insurance and a 401K plan
  • A creative and collaborative work environment in scenic Cedar City, Utah
  • Opportunity to shape retail spaces across the United States elevating the shopping experience for hundreds of communities and millions of consumers.
