Overview of the Role:
IP House is seeking Investigators with creative mindsets, strong critical thinking skills, and a passion for protecting intellectual property and consumer safety. In this role, you will conduct target research, perform test purchases, process evidence, prepare detailed reports, and engage with suspected scammers and resellers to gather actionable intelligence.
This position requires full-time, in-office presence at our Erie, Pennsylvania location.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct online research to identify sellers, capture listing evidence, and investigate target identities
  • Communicate with sellers under assumed identities via text, phone, email, and message boards
  • Perform undercover test purchases independently or in coordination with third-party volunteers
  • Receive, photograph, label, and document evidence while maintaining chain-of-custody records
  • Regularly update tracking files and internal databases
  • Prepare detailed and accurate investigation reports
  • Maintain a high level of precision and attention to detail in all reporting activities
  • Complete additional tasks and assignments as needed

What You'll Bring:
Prior investigation or undercover purchasing experience is not required; however, an investigative mindset is essential. On-the-job training will be provided. The ideal candidate is hardworking, adaptable, and highly organized, with the ability to prioritize and reprioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
This role offers strong growth opportunities, progressing from entry-level test purchases and investigations to more complex and in-depth engagements.

Compensation and Benefits
This position offers $20.00-$23.00 per hour based on a 40-hour workweek. Only those with significant investigations experience will qualify for the upper end of this range.
