Skowhegan Savings Bank seeks an individual to join our Fairfield team as Branch Manager. This is a full-time position, that sits onsite at our Branch in Fairfield, ME.


We are looking to hire between $58,490-$65,000 to start. Position has growth potential up to $79,133/year.


Position Summary:

The Branch Manager I (BMI) is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of a high-performing branch. This role blends team leadership, strategic thinking, and financial insight to drive branch profitability, operational efficiency, and growth. The BMI builds strong customer relationships to support retention and attract new business, ensures compliance with company policies, and leads their team through coaching and development. Beyond daily operations, the BMI contributes to business growth, works across departments, and engages with the local community. This role is accountable for financial performance, customer experience, and alignment with company goals, while maintaining strong product knowledge and setting clear branch-level goals.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Branch Operations

  • Oversee daily branch operations, ensuring timely and accurate task completion through delegation and cross-training.
  • Ensures all branch transactions are balanced at the close of each day, oversees individual accountability for the handling of cash and assists in resolving balancing problems.
  • Maintain operational efficiencies across all functions including compliance, security, and audit readiness.
  • Maintain current knowledge of products, services, compliance standards, and fraud prevention.
  • Collaborate with regional branch manager and retail leadership on regional initiatives and strategic planning.
  • Oversee overall financial performance of the branch, ensuring alignment with budgetary goals and profitability targets.
  • Prepares reports which apprise management of the status of branch activities.
  • Foster a customer-focused sales environment that delivers comprehensive financial solutions for individuals and businesses
  • Monitor financial trends and performance metrics to support branch deposit growth in deposits and achievement of sales objectives, and individual sales goals.
  • Originate and service consumer loans within prescribed lending authority.
  • Ensures sufficient coin and currency level are maintained in compliance with bank policies and established cash limits.
  • Manage risk proactively, ensuring adherence to regulatory and internal policies.

Team Alignment and Development

  • Supervises and support all aspects of team performance, including coaching, performance evaluations and feedback, disciplinary actions, recruiting and salary adjustments.
  • Develop leadership capabilities and foster continuous growth through mentoring, talent development and one-on-one feedback sessions.
  • Promote a positive and resilient team culture, maintaining composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Facilitate transparent communication through daily planning and monthly team meetings to align on goals and expectations.

Customer Relations

  • Deliver and coach to superior customer experiences, ensuring a clean, organized, and welcoming environment and facility.
  • Promptly and effectively handle customer escalations and complex transactions. Ensures customer's requests and questions are promptly resolved.
  • Adheres to and holds staff accountable to all established bank and retail service level expectations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolves internal and external inquiries.
  • Represent the bank in the community by actively participating in local events, civic organizations, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, including nonprofits, schools, small businesses and local leaders
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for community outreach and marketing to enhance visibility and reputation.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned to support branch and organizational goals.




Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's degree in a relevant field of study or
  • 2 or more years of experience and/or training; preferred emphasis in Business, Banking, Sales or other related area.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to manage financial performance and drive growth.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of branch operations, sales and customer service.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
