Position Type: Locum Physician - Neurology
Overview
Exciting opportunity for a Board-Certified Neurologist to provide a balance of inpatient and outpatient coverage in Portsmouth, VA. This role includes both daytime clinic work and after-hours call, offering consistent patient volume and strong team support.
Practice Highlights
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Setting: 50% Outpatient | 50% Inpatient
  • Patient Load: 8 patients/day; 3 hospital-based patients/day
  • Call Ratio: 15% | Schedule: 8 AM - 5 PM; Call 5 PM - 8 AM | Weekend Call 8a-8a
  • Support: 2 Neurologists + 1 APP, 2 LPNs, 1 MA
  • Onsite Services: Lab + X-Ray
  • Required Procedures: EEG, EMG, Brain Death Exam, Radiologic Interpretation (unofficial)
  • EMR: Epic / Connect Care
Candidate Requirements
  • Board Certified - Required
  • Active VA License + VA DEA - Required at submission (no exceptions)
  • BLS Certification - Required
  • Flu Vaccination - Required at credentialing
  • COVID Vaccination - Preferred
Schedule & Coverage
  • Monday-Friday | 8 AM - 5 PM
  • Call: 5 PM - 8 AM (Weekday & Weekend coverage required)
  • Credentialing: 30-60 days standard
