Job description

RESPONSIBILITY

Under the direction of the supervisor, the operator has the full responsibility of set up and safe operation of machine(s) to ensure that quality products are achieved at a consistent rate of speed in accordance with machine standards.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Operate machine(s) in a consistent and safe manner while maintaining standard operating procedures
  • Assess and verify status of product runs at beginning of shift
  • Start equipment and adjust machine as required to attain target speeds
  • Responsible for the quality of the product manufactured with regard to folding, gluing, packaging, labeling and stacking
  • Perform all quality checks as outlined in Quality processes and procedures to ensure proper gluing and folding
  • Coordinate with Feeder Packers to be sure that the proper count is being packed into the cases
  • Coordinate with Case Sealer to assure the labels are in the right location on the box, that the proper labels are being used, and the stacking pattern is correct
  • Responsible for tagging full pallets accurately with the required information
  • Ensure that pallet loads are accurately counted and entered on the production report
  • Partner with crew to bring additional product to the feeder and to remove pallets when they are full
  • Take ownership of the work area ensuring it is kept clean and that the machine is operated in a safe manner
  • Completely and accurately fill out Production Report
  • Operator has overall responsibility to ensure that safety procedures are being followed and that quality product is being produced and that supervisor will be notified of any safety or quality issues immediately

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

  • Regular attendance and punctuality are necessary
  • Must be flexible to work overtime hours and occasional Saturdays when necessary; must be flexible to work other shifts if needed
  • Must be conscientious and willing to assume responsibility

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Three months (plus) related Gluer Operator experience and/or training required
  • Experience in paper packaging industry is preferred
  • Stable and reliable job history
