Job description

Woodward Tahoe (Boreal and Soda Springs), located in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountain range, is a year-round world-class action sports facility with a culture that comes straight from our main product: Fun. The Snowmaking Operator role is an entry-level position within the Snowmaking Department. This job involves working as part of a team to generate snow to provide substrate for resort trails and operations. This will include Boreal Ski Resort, Woodward Tahoe Tubing, and Planet Kids at Soda Springs Resort.

Snowmaking is a notably, labor intensive and physically demanding role. Snowmakers will be working in a variety of weather circumstances and landscape conditions. Snowmobiles may be necessary for transportation at times (training will be provided, if necessary); walking/hiking through snow and partially snow-covered areas is to be expected.Snowmaking operations will primarily be conducted through nighttime shifts; although operations are subject to daytime shifts given appropriate weather conditions.

While everyday is different Snowmaking Operators can expect to:

  • Operate snow guns

  • maintain equipment

  • fulfill start-up and shut-down procedures for snow machines

  • drain water hoses/lines

  • Removal of snow/ice on/or surrounding equipment.

Position Requirements:

  • Able to lift objects 40+ pounds

  • Basic mechanical skills

  • Able to use basic hand tools

  • Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions

  • Must be able to work night shifts

  • Able to collaborate with others in a positive manner

  • Strong decision-making skills

This is a seasonal, full-time snowmaking role, however, this position and its responsibilities are contingent on natural snowfall and resort operation plans; upon the completion of snowmaking for the season, snowmakers may have the opportunity to fulfill a role as a Snow Removal Operator, if desired.
