Job description

Our client is seeking a motivated and skilled Bore Operator to join our dynamic construction team. As a Bore Operator, you will be responsible for operating specialized drilling equipment to create underground pathways for utilities, pipelines, and other infrastructure projects. This role requires a proactive attitude, excellent mechanical knowledge, and the ability to work safely and efficiently on busy construction sites. Your expertise will help ensure precision, safety, and timely project completion in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate horizontal drilling machines and related heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, and dump trucks to perform underground boring tasks.
  • Prepare work sites by setting up equipment, inspecting machinery for safety and functionality, and ensuring all tools are ready for operation.
  • Follow detailed project plans and specifications to execute precise bore paths while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks on all equipment used during drilling operations to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with team members including site supervisors, engineers, and other operators to coordinate tasks effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment usage, and any incidents or issues encountered during operations.
  • Adhere strictly to safety standards and environmental regulations to promote a safe working environment for all personnel.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience operating horizontal drilling machinery or similar heavy construction equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, or dump trucks.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
  • Valid commercial driver's license with experience driving heavy vehicles such as tanker trucks or water trucks preferred.
  • Construction site experience with familiarity in excavation, paving, or utility installation projects is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar (CAT) equipment or similar brands is a plus.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining high safety standards.
