Wages commensurate with experience and starting at $12/hour.

Pursuing a degree at SRSU (enrollment is not required during the summer semesters, but must show proof that you are pursuing a degree during the long semesters).
Must have an interest in operations and logistics. Must appreciate the value of operable mechanical and powered equipment and tools to get the job done. Must be willing to communicate with other students, as well as faculty and staff. Must have a valid driver's license.
Preferred
Experience operating and using 4WD pick -up trucks, trailers, UTVs/ATVs, and various mechanical and electric-powered hand tools. Basic equipment maintenance experience. Basic experience with a desktop computer and Microsoft Office programs. Ability to maintain accurate equipment service records.

Primary Responsibilities
Student will upkeep and assist with equipment maintenance for the Borderlands Research Institute at Sul Ross State University.
Primary duties include: Communicate fleet and equipment maintenance and repair needs to BRI administrative staff. Perform minor maintenance and repair, as approved, on BRI fleet, including vehicles, OHVs, and trailers, etc. Coordinate with BRI staff to outsource fleet maintenance and repairs a needed. Assist with maintenance and repair of field equipment in support of research and operations. Assist with upkeep and cleanliness of storage barn and shop area. Ensure fleet maintenance and repair logs are updated and accurate (oil changes, tire rotations, outsourced repair details, etc.). Ensure all vehicle and trailer registrations are up to date (keep log updated). Ensure all vehicles are clean upon return. Assist with periodic cleaning and organization of on-board essentials of vehicles. Periodically start and idle ATVs/UTVs to ensure in good condition. Other duties as assigned.
