Job description

Our company is currently seeking ​a Senior Bookkeeper to join our team! You will be responsible for preparing and examining financial records for our company. You will work along side our CFO that has been with the company 35 years. We have 4 businesses that submit all financial data to the corporate office for processing. This position would be required to work with each business and ensure all records are organized and reported correctly.

Responsibilities:

  • Obtain primary financial data for accounting records
  • Compute and record numerical data 
  • Check the accuracy of business transactions
  • Perform data entry and administrative duties 
  • Ability to dig into excel sheets, keep formulas accurate, troubleshoot balancing sheets
  • Work with CFO on record keeping and prepare documents they request

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in accounting, finance, or other related fields
  • Fundamental knowledge of GAAP
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Fundamental knowledge of Excel
  • Experience with Sage Accounting software
  • Deadline and detail-oriented

Company Description

Chena Power is a company within a multi-company, employee owned corporation. For the last 30+ years it has been a leader in the recycling industry of Alaska. We process and prepare scrap metals from all over the state with a heavy focus in the Fairbanks North Star Borough and the North Slope Borough to be shipped out of Alaska for recycling purposes.

Our additional subsidiaries are Chena Hot Springs Resort, a 100 year old hot springs located in the foothills outside of Fairbanks. We cater to tourists coming to experience the northern lights, hot springs, and arctic activities. Kodiak Narrow Cape Lodge is a remote 56 room lodge on Kodiak island that provides room and board for contracted guests.
