Job description

Assistant Manager, Softlines
Reports to: Store Manager
Classification: Exempt / Salaried, FULL-TIME
JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for overseeing the daily operational activities of the entire store while providing positive leadership and direction to the team. Partners with the Store Manager to lead day-to-day store operations, deliver exceptional customer service, and ensure all Team Members consistently execute the company’s Gold Standards of Operational Excellence.

This role oversees multiple departments, including Softlines, Sporting Goods amp; Gun Counter, Consumables, and Plants, while supporting sales performance, operational efficiency, inventory management, and team development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Provide customers with World Class Customer Service through friendly, quick, and accurate assistance.
  2. Supervise and coordinate the activities of all store staff, recommending measures to improve performance and increase efficiency.
  3. Recommend or initiate personnel actions such as hiring, promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.
  4. Train and coach, new and existing, Team Members to the Gold Standard.
  5. Assist in planning, directing, and coordinating Safety and Loss Prevention programs.
  6. Help to oversee Table amp; Endcap Programs and Store Scheduling.
  7. Assist in the analysis of financial impacts of risks on the company within authority, manage inventory and implement appropriate techniques to minimize shrink.
  8. Perform all basic job functions such as email, operating a register, bookkeeping, scanning, operating a pallet jack, tow motor, price changes, setting ads, merchandising, checking in freight, in-store pickup, and managing the utilization of the Learning Management System.
  9. Collaborate with the Store Manager to identify, plan and develop methods and procedures to obtain greater profit and efficiency in our business.
  10. Work closely with Scanning Coordinators, Bookkeepers, and Inventory Specialists to ensure pricing, inventory, and accounting accuracy.
  11. Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays at a minimum of 45 hours per week.
  12. Ensure all Federal and State guidelines are being followed with respect to the sale of firearms.
  13. Review and Audit Firearms inventory and 4473 forms on a weekly basis for accuracy.
  14. Consistent attendance for regularly scheduled work shifts is required.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Completes special projects as directed by the Store Manager. Additional responsibilities may be assigned throughout the store at any given time.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS-EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
  • Ideal candidate must have at least 3-5 year’s retail experience.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and train store personnel.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing throughout the day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds occasionally engaging in assisted lifting over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
