Job description

We are seeking to hire a part-time barista for our coffee bar in our bookstore located in downtown Gilbert, AZ! This will be a romance-focused bookstore, so knowledge and experience in coffee are essential. Additionally, the ideal candidate should be familiar with popular titles and authors within the romance book community. The hours would range from 20-25 hours a week, and working weekends would be mandatory.


Responsibilities

  • Serve drinks: Present drinks to customers
  • Clean: Clean and sanitize work areas, seating areas, and equipment
  • Maintain standards: Follow food safety standards and brand standards
  • Ensure stock: Ensure the cafe has enough stock to meet demand
  • Notify staff: Let the kitchen staff or operations manager know if there's a shortage
  • Take orders: Greet customers, take orders, and complete transactions
  • Make drinks: Prepare coffee, tea, and specialty drinks using a coffee machine, blender, and other kitchen equipment

Skills

  • Espresso knowledge: know how to use an espresso machine, steamer, etc., and know how to make drinks.
  • Communication: Have good verbal communication skills
  • Cash handling: Be able to operate point-of-sale systems and handle cash
