Job description

Summary:

Lead and supervise field crews in the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of asphalt paving operations, including subgrade and base preparation, paving, rolling/compaction, and patching. Coordinate labor, equipment, trucking, and plant operations to ensure proper laydown, thickness, joint construction, compaction, and surface finish meet project specifications and quality standards. Plan and manage daily paving activities to maintain production, control costs, and meet schedules. Enforce safety compliance, monitor crew and equipment performance, and support ongoing training, while working closely with the Superintendent to ensure successful project delivery.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise field crews to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality work.
  • Interpret plans and coordinate labor, equipment, materials, and trucking to meet schedules and budgets.
  • Monitor production, track daily progress, and maintain accurate reports for labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Enforce safety policies, conduct inspections, and ensure compliance with OSHA and MOT requirements.
  • Train and develop crew members, promoting accountability and teamwork.
  • Inspect work for quality and address deficiencies promptly.
  • Communicate with the Superintendent on job status, resource needs, and potential issues.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and stakeholders to support project execution.
  • Identify scope changes or delays and assist with documentation and reporting.
  • Perform minor equipment maintenance and report major issues.


Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience in road construction or related field
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and using construction software/tools.
  • Strong leadership, team management and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus
  • Valid Driver's License and a minimum of three years of driving experience with a clean driving history preferred
