BOH workers, or Back of House workers, are employees who work behind the scenes in establishments like restaurants, hotels, and other hospitality businesses. Their responsibilities typically include preparing food, washing dishes, maintaining kitchen equipment, and ensuring food safety standards are met. Unlike Front of House workers who interact with customers, BOH workers focus on operational tasks that support the business from the background. Common BOH positions include cooks, dishwashers, prep chefs, and kitchen managers. Their work is essential to the smooth functioning of any food service operation.
