Senior Linux Systems Administrator

The Boeing Company's Information Digital Technology and Security (IDT&S) organization Specialized United States Infrastructure Operations (SUSIO) group is currently seeking a Senior Linux Systems Administrator to join the team in Herndon, VA; Fairfax, VA; or Chantilly, VA.

As a Senior Linux Administrator, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing our Linux-based infrastructure, ensuring the stability, security and efficiency of our systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented professional to contribute technical leadership and DevSecOps principles in support of ArgonST programs within the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain Linux-based systems and infrastructure, integrating DevSecOps practices throughout the development lifecycle

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to automate security controls, vulnerability assessments, and compliance checks

  • Monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring high availability, reliability, security and conformance to Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements

  • Simplify, automate and optimize patch management and compliance of Linux operating systems and applications

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to Linux systems, with a focus on security and compliance

  • Conduct regular system audits to ensure compliance with security standards and industry best practices

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending improvements to enhance system efficiency, security, and DevSecOps integration

BasicQualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Successfully completed a Tier 5 Investigation (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) by the federal government within the last 5 years or agreed to enter a Continuous Vetting program such that 5 year updates are no longer required

  • 5+ years of experience with Operating systems such as RedHat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Enterprise Linux or SUSE Linux

  • 5+ years of experience using PowerShell, Bash, and Python

  • 3+ years of experience with cloud computing and/or virtualization technologies (Splunk, VMware)

  • Experience with configuration management

  • Experience with networks and network communication protocol

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Active certifications in Cloud, INFOSEC, etc.

  • Experience working in a cross functional environment with all levels in the business from individual contributors to executive leadership

  • Experience with automation tools (i.e. Ansible)

  • Experience with Windows support and administration in an Active Directory environment

  • Experience implementing and managing Containerized systems

  • Experience with security and vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., ACAS/Nessus, STIG's, SCC)

  • Experience maintaining enterprise-wide storage and network infrastructure
