Supplier Quality Engineer (Experienced or Senior)

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our dynamic team in Huntsville, AL.

Position Responsibilities:

Experienced Level 3

  • Represents Quality function on team activities to integrate contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements into all aspects of proposals and program processes and documentation

  • Provides Quality interpretation of requirements

  • Develops quality metrics, design and production certification plans for small programs to ensure compliance with contractual, Company and regulatory requirements

  • Conducts capability assessments and process validations to support supplier selection activities. Participates in various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs

  • Assists in development of new standards repairs for non-conformances. Analyzes non-conformance trends to evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions.

  • Performs analysis, tests and process audits to ensure manufacturing and test readiness

  • Recommends corrective actions to address non-conformances

  • Performs benchmarking and other forms of analysis to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved

  • Apply advanced Supplier Quality prevention tools including Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Lean and Six Sigma

  • Lead cross-functional Requirements Reviews and Capability Assessments at BDS suppliers

  • Assist with the evaluation of new technology and manufacturing process deployment readiness at suppliers. Perform special capability approvals to ensure technical readiness, capability and supplier process controls are established

  • Works under general direction

Senior Level 4

  • Leads integration of contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements into all aspects of proposals and program processes and documentation.

  • Provides interpretation of complex requirements.

  • Develops quality metrics, design and production certification plans for large programs to ensure compliance with contractual, Company and regulatory requirements.

  • Develops Quality criteria to support supplier selection activities.

  • Leads various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs.

  • Develops and selects methods for analysis, testing and audit to ensure manufacturing and test readiness.

  • Assists in development of new standards repairs for non-conformances. Analyzes non-conformance trends to evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 3+ years RCCA experience

  • 3+ years of experience in the defense or aerospace industry

  • 3+ years of experience leading or managing projects and/or teams

  • Experience presenting technical briefings to various audiences

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working with AS9100 and/or similar QMS standard

  • Certified Quality Manager or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) Certifications

  • 3+ years of experience working closely with other engineering disciplines in an integrated team environment

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing quality assurance or supplier quality related roles

Travel:

Position may require travel up to 10% of the time.

Experienced Level 3: $100,300 - $135,700
