We are currently seeking a dedicated Apprentice Body Shop Technician to join our Collision Center team in Rochester Hills, MI. This full-time role offers competitive pay and opportunities for professional growth. Job Details Salary: $20 to $25 per hour Job Type: Full Time Location: Rochester Hills, MI 48307 Position Summary The Apprentice Body Shop Technician will assist in repairing assigned vehicles, restoring them to their pre-accident condition according to repair orders. This position supports the Collision Center's promise of speed, quality, and customer satisfaction by contributing to efficient and precise vehicle repairs. Key Responsibilities Repair Planning: Approach repair planning with urgency and attention to detail to minimize waste and rework. De-trim and disassemble vehicles, organizing parts on carts, and perform pre-pulls to determine repair or replacement decisions. Parts Procurement: Assist in identifying and sourcing necessary parts. Use sound judgment to decide when damaged parts can be safely repaired to save costs and cycle time. Maintain parts and materials carts in an orderly manner. Team Engagement and Problem-Solving: Monitor the status of assigned vehicles and remain open to feedback to keep projects on schedule. Support team members by helping troubleshoot and solve repair challenges. Vehicle Repair: Perform high-quality repairs that meet or exceed Collision Center standards. Adhere to productivity goals and quality control processes to ensure minimal return rates. Safety and Organization: Consistently use required safety equipment and follow proper repair procedures. Comply with hazardous waste disposal guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work area by returning tools and materials to designated locations. Work Environment This role involves working in a collision repair center where you may be exposed to fumes, chemicals, dust, and noise. Protective equipment, including respirators, must be worn. Job Requirement:Qualifications Knowledge of manufacturers’ repair processes and adherence to collision technical repair standards. Ability to operate frame and measuring equipment according to vendor procedures. Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record. ASE certification in body repairs. Commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Completion of Pro Level training and other required industry training. Welding certificate preferred. Reliable and predictable attendance. Ability to lift and carry objects over 50 pounds periodically. Physical capability to reach above and below shoulder level and push carts or vehicles with assistance. Comfort with extended periods of kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping. Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination for equipment operation. Tolerance for repetitive hand and arm motions. Ability to perform vehicle inspections outdoors in various weather conditions. Willingness and ability to wear protective equipment, including respirators. Successful completion of pre-employment background and drug screenings.
