Job description

Summary

Oversee all aspects of the marina maintenance operation including the inspection, repair, and preventative maintenance of boats, docks, trailers, fuel systems, and marina equipment. Ensure the marina fleet is maintained in safe operating condition while supporting customer service, legal compliance, safety, and emergency preparedness to provide an efficient and profitable operation.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, with the General Manager, the maintenance schedule for all boats, docks, trailers, fuel systems, and marina equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections of the rental fleet and marina infrastructure to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on boats, outboard motors, trailers, docks, and marina equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, steering, fuel, cooling, and hydraulic system issues.
  • Coordinate with contractors, when required, to ensure boats, docks, and marina equipment are maintained in sound operating condition.
  • Assist the General Manager in preparing and managing budgets related to boat, dock, and equipment maintenance.
  • Ensure maintenance records, inspections, work orders, and related operational documents are organized and properly maintained.
  • Monitor facility conditions, including dock infrastructure, fuel systems, marina equipment, safety, and security issues, and make appropriate recommendations for repairs or improvements in a timely manner.
  • Oversee projects, upgrades, and repairs on site while ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure marina emergency procedures related to equipment failures, fuel operations, and facility safety are maintained and updated as necessary.
  • Assist with boat rental operations and support marina staff during peak business periods.
  • Ensure the marina is maintained in a clean, safe, and professional condition for guests and team members.
  • Be prepared to work weekends, holidays, and varying schedules as business needs require and be reasonably available in case of emergency.
  • Assist with other projects as requested.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in boat, dock, trailer, and marina equipment maintenance.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of boats, marine systems, outboard engines, docks, trailers, and marina operations.
  • Possess working knowledge of power tools and hand tools for mechanical, electrical, wood, fiberglass, and general repairs performed onsite.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and perform repairs independently.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills with employees, customers, managers, contractors, and the Park Service.
  • Must be highly organized and efficient with computers (Microsoft Office applications).
  • Possess a high degree of integrity, be a team player capable of leading and motivating others.
  • Able to handle multiple, ongoing tasks while remaining organized and efficient.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and experience in:
    • Safely towing and maneuvering boat trailers.
    • Backing and positioning trailers in a variety of operating environments.
    • Launching and retrieving boats using trailers and launch ramps.
    • Following all applicable safety procedures and best practices related to trailer operation, boat launching, and boat retrieval.
  • Must be able to stand for up to eight (8) hours per day with frequent bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, and climbing movements, and lift up to 75 pounds.
