Job description

FUNCTION & DUTIES:
Under the authority of the Director of post-secondary student services (PSSS), the position of Assistant Director of the PSSS entails overseeing some of the programs and resources of one or more fields of activity within the department. The position includes the performance of management duties such as planning, organization, supervision, control, and evaluation.
The Assistant Director provides, within their field of responsibilities, advice and functional expertise services to the school board's administration employees to favor the optimal management of the PSSS department. In addition, the function includes the following responsibilities:
  • Define or collaborate in defining the objectives and policies related to the programs the incumbent oversees, while taking into account the general objectives and policies of the school board;
  • Direct, supervise and evaluate the staff under the incumbent's responsibility;
  • Assist in the preparation of the budget of the department and monitor expenses for resources and programs under the incumbent's responsibility
  • Assist and advise the director as well as the senior staff of other services and institutions concerning programs under the incumbent's responsibility;
  • Oversee activities, programs or resources;
  • Replace the Director as needed;
  • Assume any other responsibility compatible with his function that may be assigned to him by the immediate superior.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • First cycle university degree in an appropriate field of studies (administration) certifying a university studies program of at least three years or hold a senior executive or management position, whose minimum qualifications require to have a 1st cycle university degree, in a school board.
  • Six (6) years of relevant experience.

The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualification requirements if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Fluency in two of the three official languages of KI (Inuktitut, English and French);
  • Excellent management and organizational skills in order to create an efficient work environment.
  • Initiative;
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Outlook, Word and Excel;
  • Knowledge of Nunavik and the Inuit culture is an asset.

CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:
Class 10* as per the KI working conditions of managers: from $116,551 to $155,396 annually depending on qualifications and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
